You can opt out for 5 years or for life. 1-888-567-8688. To opt out for life they will send you a notice. You will sign, date and mail back. I did it, it works, no more solicitations. It may take up to a month for it to be in full effect.

There is nothing similar to a Do no call list for credit card offers, but there are 2 solutions:
1. Find out where the credit cards companies are buying your information from. It could be your current credit card companies, or even from the credit reporting agencies. Contact them and ask that you be removed from their list so that they don't sell your info.
2. Place a fraud alert on you credit report. However, you would need to be accessible by telephone to verify every new account that you decide to open, otherwise you may be denied credit because they can't verify your identity. But the fraud alert would remove you from preapproved credit card offers. Check out this website for more info:

Yes there is. The on-line form only opts-out for 5 years, but you can print off a form to mail to permanently opt-out. I did last month. The Trans Union credit report I received today, states "PROMOTIONAL OPT-OUT: This file has been opted out of promotional lists supplied by TransUnion
(Note: This statement has no expiration date.)"

Because e-mail, unlike phone calls, can come from an unlimited amount of sources, real or fake accounts, there is no way, currently to avoid this. If it is arriving in your postal mail box then you can call each individual company, or just throw them away. If they are coming to your e-mail, then you can either open a private e-mail account that you do not use for internet browsing, switch to one that responds for you with a spam protecting blocker, or use your e-mail filters, spam control or junk filter.
