First off I'd cancel any previously exsisting bank/credit cards that would've been in there. Then I'd suggest phoning the Social Security place, and talking to them about it.

I have been in the same situation
-They can't do much but believe me it does help. File a police report (if anything comes back in the future dating after you reported it stolen you have proof that at the time your wallet was stolen)
I actually had to go to court cause they caught the person that stole it
-Cancel any and all credit cards. The card company can issue you a new card with a new account number meanwhile blocking the stolen one (My card company listed the stolen acct number as such on my credit report) That's a plus too
-Social Security (NEVER EVER CARRY THIS WITH YOU)
But you can get a replacement card from the Social Security Admin office near your home town. I don't believe they do fraud alerts or anything.
-Contact all 3 credit bureaus regaring putting a fraud alert in case someone applies for credit with your information they'll have to contact you first.
-Provided that you do all this IMMEDIATELY you should be ok
GOOD LUCK & keep that SS# out of your wallet.

Step 1: NEVER carry anything with your social security number unless you will need to PROVE your number before you return home. Its too late for that.
Step 2: IMMEDIATELY contact all 3 credit bureaus and place a FRAUD ALERT on your file.
Step 3: File a Police report NOW.
Step 4: Cancel EVERYTHING in your wallet. You should have a list of ALL cards and toll free numbers stored somewhere secure.
An identity thief couldn't care less about your address. They will use a false address anyway.

First of all, never ever carry your social security card in your wallet again. Keep it in safe place like a safety deposit box at your bank or in a locked safe in your home.
On your dilema, issue a fraud alert with all of the credit bureaus and you can also put a freeze on your credit file for a fee. The only time anyone could run your credit would be with your notification and permission to temporarily lift the freeze for that particular inquiry. Notify all of your creditors and your bank and have your cards cancelled and new ones issued. Go to the link provided below for more indepth information on protecting yourself.

that's stolen.. they might initiate determining of success although, while they comprehend that they don't seem to be being usual for a credit card.. they might do harm although, like say in the event that they thieve some thing, or get in any worry with the regulation.. you should call and cancell issues terrific away and contact the police to record the wallet stolen.. Then they comprehend which you weren't in possession of the wallet in the past something happens..

You have been hit. I am sorry to say credit cards will be the least of your worries. They now have your driver's lic and date of birth, which means they can committe crimes in your name. They can work with your social and not pay taxes. I hope you did not have any medical information in there because they can also use it for themselves or sell it. There are more areas of concern then what people think. I am an id theft expert. I work with one of the most comprehensive companies in North America. If I can help, please let me know. I can offer you something that will help! Good luck!!!

Once we thought identity theft happened to my husband, call all three of the credit places and have them put an alert on your credit, then call the Social Security office.

They can find your street address quite easily. Possibly even your date of birth. This is all public information. You should put a fraud alert on your credit reports immediately. In addition, you may need to monitor your credit reports on a permanent basis.
