Bankruptcy stays on your record for 7 years, and you have to apply to be cleared of the Bancruptcy. If you did not finish everything off with the lawyer, as in pay all of their fees; all the I's dotted and T's crossed they may not clear you.

Whatever your credit record is will show.

In the US, a bankruptcy would show on your credit report for 10 years. Other negative information shows for 7 years. I don't know the rules in Canada.
