Without the bankruptcy, you would owe the deficit after a foreclosure sale. If the foreclosure happened before the bankruptcy The deficit would normally be included in the bankruptcy. The mortgage holder CAN'T foreclose during the bankruptcy. Bankruptcy causes an automatic stay on ALL collection efforts. Foreclosure is a collection effort.
