I opened an account with Alltel just a few months ago. I got the phone put in my name for someone else (big mistake!!). I am no longer on speaking terms with this person so I had the phone cut off. Everything was paid so it was closed on good terms. Can that hurt my credit because I closed it so soon?

You should be fine. The only time cell phone companies report to the credit bureaus is when someone doe's not pay their bill.

So if the account was closed on good terms like you stated, there will be nothing reported.

No it wont hurt your credit rating. It will only show up on your credit search as a search by alltel and it will show it as finalised.. Although lots of searches in a short period can be bad as it shows that you may be desperate for money or credit. It doesnt apply in your case

No. Credit concerns for reporting only exist when you do not honor the terms of your agreements. As long as you honored your agreement and paid your debt, you should not have an issue.

You made the right move. No problem as far as your credit report goes.

No as long as it is all paid off. They usually just charge you a canellation fee, but as long as it is paid, it will not show up on your credit

No, they don't even report to the credit bureaus unless you are in default.
