Suppose you were given $500 (friendly relative), you have three cards with debt. On two of them you owe $250 and the last you owe $3,000. Is it better to pay off two credit cards that are $250 each,or pay the minimum on those cards and the rest towards your $3000 debt?

Back in 2000 or 2001 I got a student credit account and due to financial hardship the account went to collection in 2003. From my understanding, this account is to be removed from my credit report after 7 years of it's first deliquent date not the date it was sent to collection. Now, in 2007 the collection company is contacting me and it is pass the California's Statue of Limitation and the 7 years mark. What should I do? What can the collection company do to me? Can this go back on my credit report even though it has been removed? Can someone please help I am confused about this whole credit report/credit collection/statue of limitation thing? Thanks. Your help and advise is greatly appreciated.

i never heard from this out fit until last week and this guy named MR. Toff from a company called PALISADES. Mr. Toff demanded 2348 from me today from a providian card that i had. He told me that if i do not pay it today he will file a law suit against me. I know i did have a providain card years ago and it was charged off. I ran in to some financial problems after a accident. So i pulled my credit report up and this was my findings. It showes Providian was charged off and the date of the last activity was on 12/2000 and no date of last payment was on there. Now this Palisadas is on there showing date of the last activity 12/2000, date major deliquency reported on 8.2007. it also showes the balance 1665. Just looking at some of these numbers something is illegal. I live in the state of MN if that helps. Never been in this situation.

1st thing i want to make clear is I dont want to be poked fun of or badgered. I posted this question a week ago and found nothing but negitive feedback and advertisements for bankrupcies and credit solutions. I am in sales rely on commision well sales were horriable this year and i had to result in using cc for some bills and ended up to be around 10k between me and my wife medical bill seemed to be the main expense. I am just wondering how many of the rest of the public is in this situation too. I just transfered half of it to a 0 percent for 18 months, i am commited to take care of this and going to pay it. How come did i get called a deadbeat on here? and things like that.

Can my credit report "turn" good(or not bad) if all of my debts were from more than 7 years ago? But in December 2004, my accounts were frozen in order to try to collect money from me. I have been a hard worker but I have never been able to keep a job for more than a year. I have never been able to make enough money to survive on my own, let alone be able to pay off old bills. I see on here about the SOL, so I know about that. But should I have a (somewhat) clean credit report now? I have not ordered my free three credit reports yet.
NO ADVERTISERS!!

Ok, in a nutshell, heres what happened. I applied for an online course - was rejected because i didnt get the necessary pprwk to them in time. Some months later i received a letter from a collection agency, i called & paid a settlement amt that day and was assured that this would not go on my credit report.- this was in writing. Needless to day it IS on my credit report. To say that these were unfair billing pratices would be an understatement. What legal action can i take, if any?

I ruined my credit history by missing the payments, going over credit limit and paying late. :( I cut up all the cards and trying to pay off the cards. I already called the companies to lower my interest. What else can I do to get my score up again? How long does it take to make the credit history to be in great shape? Please help. Thank you.

I got a summons on the door. I went to court to deny the claim. I only owe $300. They still have not sent the validation documents. They gave me a 2nd court date (it's next week) to prove my case. Yesterday a got a letter in the mail from the debt buyers with the judge signature and everything saying that I didn't show up in court & the court now order me to pay $1500. I called the court and they didn't no anything about the letter & they had nothing to do with it. Is this legal?? Any advice??

Can anyone give me some advice please. I purchased an item on ebay and never received it. Have waited about 28 days for this item. Have communicated with the seller and totally believe they have sent the item, have now received their proof of delivery together with a completed claim form for Royal Mail, enclosing sale of item information. I told the seller I did not want them to be out of pocket as I know the item has been sent, but is it correct for me to claim from the post office of paypal? secondly, how do I leave feedback for this item? as it would be negative for the seller, but I dont really want to leave a negative feedback coz the seller has done all she can to assit me. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

I've done SOME research but I'm still unsure..
I've visited with one company...you completely stop making payments to your creditors. After 3 months, they(credit counselors) step in working with the creditors to lower your payments and interest rate. BUT, you have to stop paying them for 3 months in order to "build a case."
I don't want to hurt my already dying credit rate.
Are there any other type of credit counseling services that DON'T require you to hurt your already damaged credit?

I have an account that I am getting ready to pay off, and found out that it is a revolving credit account.

After paying it off, will it negatively impact my credit rating by closing the account as I have no future need for it?

Thanks!

I would prefer to have a place where I can do a trial period.

I ALREADY tried PRIVACY 1-2-3 and FREECREDITREPORT.COM. I can NOT get another free trial though them, but there has to be another place to watch your credit report.
