Long story short, my soon to be ex husband ruined our credit. I had no knowledge of his actions as I had no access to any bills, accounts or funds. Now we're divorcing and because my (his) credit is awful I am having a hard time finding a good job.

What are my options?

Obvious the interest rate is unbelievable high. many of these people have bad credit and are forced to get a loan from these people. I checked for legitimate high interest loan but a conventional loan can not charge more than something like 30% a year. Is there any type of loan with more than 30% but less than loan shark rates that are legitimate and are in the US.

My parents taught me zero about finances..my credit was so bad cuz I wouldnt pay my bills on time, interest % was high etc etc. Im 23 now and have had my last credit card closed for maybe a year now and would like to start fresh to rebuild my credit history, my FICO score, etc. Where do I start? All these APR terms and all the competitors out there in the market...gives me a headache. If you can suggest anything- 1. a good credit card w/least fees, I guess most rewards like points? and 2. where I can get good info about the industry/personal finance w/o spending too much time, a resource I dont have.
THanks tons!

When I pay my credit card, will paying immediately help my credit better than if I wait until the end of the statement?

Will it help my credit more if I wait to get to about 30% of my credit limit and then pay it rather than pay it right away?

Is paying right away the best option?

I applied for a loan w/ a good cosigner but was declined. If I switch to my cosigner being primary and I the cosigner, what will the difference be? Can I still make the payments and have it effect my credit in a good way? This would be my first financed vehicle. I really need a loan and have a great cosigner!? But am having way to much trouble!

My husband currently has a horrible credit score while I on the other hand have an Excellent credit score. At the moment I’m not too concerned with how his score will affect us because we are both in graduate school and not looking to buy a house. We’ve been making payment regularly and on time to try and fix his credit but it won’t increase that much. I read on the Wallstreet Journa this week that many people add their child as an authorized user and immediately their credit history with the card is transferred off to that person dramatically increasing their credit score…

But my question is, if I add him, will his history automatically be connected with mine???

I have information on my credit report that is reflecting negatively on my credit score, due to late payments. I know that negative information like this remains on my credit report from 3 -7 years. However, when is it removed? I have read that it is removed based on the date of the first delinquency (in this case April, 2001), and then then I have read that it is removed based on the last date information was reported on the account/date of account closure (Jan, 2003). The account I am referring to is paid in full, with a zero balance. Based on this information - would the information be removed based on the April date or the January date? Is it exactly 7 years? - for example, if we use the January date, it would be removed in January of 2010. Can anyone clarify this for me?

I know that you can write a dispute letter to the credit bureaus if they are reporting inaccurate information, but what if the information is correct but the account has already been paid? Is there any way you can get it removed before the date set for removal? Also my medical bills are in clear view to everyone. I thought that they were supposed to be marked "Med1" and only could be viewed by myself? Any suggestions on how to clear up my credit and have these items removed early and get my medical bills to be marked appropriately?

I've been thinking about filing bankruptcy using one of the websites that fills out all the paperwork for you and then all you have to do is bring them to court. they garuntee their work, if the judge does not accept them they will either fix the problem or refund your money. If anyone has ever used one of these businesses could you please tell me about your experience or knows of a good website to go to please let me know.

I have a $1,500 debt with University of Phoenix online. They lied to me on several occasions and grossly misrepresented themselves in an attempt to get me to take classes with them. I will never be able to use the credits I earned, and I dont believe I own them a cent. How does one go about disputing a debt. They have turned this matter over to a collection agency.

My score was 700. Transunion stated one way to raise it was to obtain a mix of credit cards ( ie Dept store, gas etc instead of just Visa/MC. So I acquired a BP amd Home Depo within 1 month and my score dropped over 50 points. Transunion now states I got them in a too short period of time. My question is 2 fold. How long should it take for score to get back to 700 and/or if I cancel these 2 cards now will my score immediately go back to 700???
