Often you are asked for references. Should you tell our current employer if you want to look for something else?

I've worked before in a female-dominated profession (veterinary hospital). I know that in a workplace with a lot of women there can be a lot of gossiping, lies, and hate-talk going around It personally drives me nuts. I mean, I know that's what women do. That's how they communicate and relieve their emotions. But it drove me crazy at the animal hospital.

So my question is, if I pursue nursing, while I go crazy working in a female-dominated workplace?

I do not know what to do.....I am serioulsy confused right now!

Okay, I got this job at this mortgage/insurance place. I am supposed to start work offically on December 3!
Anyway...I am only 20, and my husband and I just bought our first place, so right now our money is very tight!!
Well, last weekened I took a insurance class that cost me a little over 400 dollars!!
It really put as back, and we are scraping as of now! Then, my boss wanted me to go to another training class this week, and there was just no way I could afford the gas of going all the way across town. NOW, he is upset with me, and thinks that I am slacking off.....he thinks that not having money is no excuse!
Plus, I am upset because technically I am not supposed to start working until next week, and he is mad at me because I didnt go to a training class this week!I dont know what to do because I am a dedicated person...I just cant afford to go to all these things hes sending me to!
What should I do????

I always wanted to get into advertising and marketing. After graduating I got a job (training followed by a confirmation) in a leading ad agency. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

Problem is guys, it’s been four months and I haven't really done anything meaningful. I didn’t learn anything during my training.

I am assisting one of the account directors with his projects. He keeps giving me bits and pieces. But I feel I am not doing anything and not learning anything. Sometimes for weeks I wouldn’t do anything at all. Only thing keeps me here is reputation of the agency but at the same time I think if I won’t learn anything then what’s the point? Is this a common problem when you start your career?

I want to be a nurse very badly. I have all my classes done, and I applied to the nursing program. Now they tell me there is a waiting list. How can there be a nursing shortage if I can't even get into the schools?

I'm a college student applying for an internship and the only jobs I've had are crappy retail part-time jobs in high school that have absolutely nothing to do with the career I'm in school for (graphic design). Should I include them or leave them out?

I had an interview today and I must admit that I suck at interviews. I am not that polished and often freeze up on trick questions. I was nailed and drilled this morning and the interviewer did not find me fascinating. I can tell by the look in her eyes. I am a hard worker. I catch on quick but I just flat out suck on interviews. I don't think that I am going to get this job. I was really unprepared to answer 50 questions and spend 1 whole hour and a half there. She didn't crack a smile. She was very firm and serious. I felt a little offended and intimidated. She asked the same questions over and over but they were worded differently. She wanted me to role play with her the type of work I did at my previous position. I got really nervous and screwed up. She criticized the way my previous job did business. What do you guys think? Have you ever sucked on an interview and still got the job? Do a bad interview really means that you will be a bad employee, is that how they look at it?

About a month ago I posted me resume online. The job I was working for fired me after they found out. It was a written rule ok I understand that but shouldn't I got a warning or just been suspended. Well now I'm out of a job and can't even claim unemployment and all I did was send my resume to one job. Everyone I worked with including my manager knew I wasn't really going anywhere and I've also told the President of the company but they don't care. Well I still don't have a job and I've practically begged for my old job back but it hasn't worked. Ever since I left business has gotten hectic, two girls quit and 1 barely comes in without complaining. They also hired two more people but it's been two busy to train them. I have worked for this company for 1 1/2 years and have exceeded better than half of the other associates. Everyone want me back, my manager even said she'd do anything to get me back, but there's only so much she can do. I don't know sometimes people get money and forget how to treat others. I have no one to blame but I wish they would just give me another chance. When I tried practicaly begging for my job back all they said was it would't work out like I stole something, I mean I've seen people at the job do more than that and get away with it. It's like I'm getting the death penalty for speeding. Well I guess that's how life goes, but let me know what you think?

There's an opening at a company in my field (graphic design). However, they are asking for a salary history and "resumes without salary history will not be considered". I have been at my current job for 2 1/2 years and started in a junior level position, took the position to gain experience after getting my bachelor's degree in art/design, and build my portfolio which I have done. I now have 3-4 years of professional full-time experience and should be considered mid-level but my current company is too cheap to give me a big jump in salary for mid-level. I also have another additional bachelor's degree (multimedia), but those skills are not being used in my current company even though I've offered it to my managers so I can be more valuable and grow. With my 2 degrees, my skills and experience (based on market rate) I can make at least $10k more. Should I lie about my current salary on my salary history to get this big jump, and can they verify it? I don't want to be lowballed again.

I have a friend that started a job and was promised a pay of $2200 a month. She will be selling vaccum cleaners. The vaccum is a Kirby and sells for a whopping $3000. Considering her pay and the cost of the vaccum I began to be concerned so I checked out the Better Buisness Bureau. The complaint read as follows:
The BBB processed a total of 3 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period. Of the total 3 complaints in the last 36 months, 1 of those was closed in the past 12 months.
Complaints Concerned
Sales Practice Issues: 3
Outcome of all complaints -
Resolved: 1; Administratively Closed: 1; No Response: 1
I suppose these complaints don't mean much considering there weren't that many and they've been in buisness since 1999. I'm mainly worried because my friend is dealing with CPS and trying to get financially stable to get her child back. Maybe I'm worrying too much. Is there any other investigating I could do?
