I am in a bit of dilema. My wife is 7 1/2 months pregant. I am starting my new job on monday. I am just waiting on the written contract. How would I bring this subject up? when do I? I understand that I will not be able to get a week off, but I really just want 2 days off.

Do I want until after I'm hired then mention this?
Do I add this clause into the contract?

I am interested in becoming a radiology technician but I want to do it part time. Are part time jobs easy to find? No more than 20 hours a week.

Also, how hard is the 2 year program? I was told it goes on all year round including summer. I was also told I would spend all day learning this stuff as if it was a full time job during the training part. I also want to know what kind of homework I would have to do.

Could you explain these things?

Is this job very demanding or is it laid back?

thanks

I came back from a job interview at local govt. There were several people in the interview panel, and all of them gave me their business card. Will thank you e-mail be following the norm, or should I refrain and use snail mail thank you card.

Somehow, I get a feeling snail mailing a thank you card probably won't make a difference. The funny things is I got nailed with experience questions, and then during the later part of the interview, I could tell some of the experience they were asking for from me was not really necessary for the job. Have you ever went through that kind of experience? Should I still snail mail thank you card?

hey everyone,
I'm at the point in my life where im trying to figure out what i want to do when i graduate. I obviously will go to college, and i want to major in something in business that can open up a career that involves me getting paid a lot of money. Im guessing that that would be something in the business world or a doctor, but probably not a doctor for me. Salary is definitely a big thing for me.

What kind of degrees do CEO's and CFO's and Sales Executives have? My main goal in business is to get rich, and im willing to get whatever kind of degree and join whatever type of business that would help me attain that goal. let me know what you think.

What degrees are very valued in the business world and are a gateway to financial success?

I interviewed with a different supervisor and manger for this position. Neither however is available to help me deal with this issue. I have worked in the medical field many years. Recently having an injury preventing me from returning to contact position I took a medical insurance office job to utilize my skills. This is something totally different but I figured I would do well since there was suppose to be "3 wks of training and 6 months to really fit into the job comfortably" as I was told.
I just completed my 90 day probation period and received my first evaluation-it was poor. So poor to the point I have two weeks to change my performance or I’m fired. I have NEVER had a poor work performance evaluation before.
Apparently during the 90 days anytime I asked questions or had someone assist me with my new job, it was considered disciplinary actions taken against my work performance while I was under the impression I was still in the learning process. I am no longer to ask team members questions. My boss has informed me that she took "numerous measures by having trusted staff to assist me with my errors to overcome them and yet I continue to make mistakes". So literally I can not make ANY mistakes or ask questions. I think this is unreasonable, but I want to improve and keep this job that I really do like what I do.
What would you suggest?

The appointment is at 9.30 and I have school after, so is it ok to wear jeans and a collared button up to the interview?

Recently I asked to take a longer lunch because I had a doctor appt. and my boss asked me if I had a doctor appointment or if it was "something else". I think she was a bit paranoid that day because a coworker recently moved on to a different job and I think she is concerned I will too. I'm not (yet!).

For future reference:
Does it make a difference if it is a whole day or part of a day?

Does it matter what the time off is for? Examples: Medical? Funeral? Wedding? On the request for time off form I usually check "other" but I've also talked about what whatever I was doing.

PTO is banked together; no specific "vacation days" or "sick days". Personnel policies do not cover this specifically. It's a small, private, non profit funded by state and federal monies.

Boss is nosy and her work boundaries are a little loose which makes me uncomfortable so I'm increasingly touchy about this. I don't know what is legal and and what is not for her to ask me about.

For example, in order to get into the BSN at my school, you need a 3.0. That's like medical school! I thought nursing was supposed to be easy, but I guess I was wrong. Does anyone have any theories behind this mess?

I have an interview tomorrow, which is nothing new to me. I have interviewed with numerous companies and I'm very confident in my interviews and in my experience, usually. This one tomorrow morning is different. Every job I have ever had in the past has been a white collar job, so it's been easy - suit and tie (I'm a guy) Tomorrow I'm interviewing for the railroad (norfolk southern) as a yard clerk. Now, from what I've read, this is a white collar-ish position within the railroad, but it's still in the yard, within blue collar working conditions...I'm really excited about the job, but I don't want to go to the interview overdressed in a suit, or underdressed in khaki's. I'm not above blue collar work, I just never worked in that area. What should I wear?

When building a Resume, in regards to work experience, is it acceptable to include self employment, even though legally it would be classified as a hobby. It is work experience and made money from it.
