I am getting my degree in nursing (BSN) and will most likely pursue a MSN as well. I really don't want to work nights, though. Are all nurses required to work nights at some point? How hard is it to find an employer that doesn't require nights?

Im a nurse myself. The thing you are going to have to work against is senoirity. Being the new kid on the block your chances at dayshift to start off with are pretty slim. It depends on what kind of work you do. Most RN jobs are supervisory for the most part and usually dayshift...Director of Nursing and such.

It also depends on the company you work for. Some do rotating shifts while others do not. Your best bet would be to ask that question in an interview. That way you know up front what shifts are available.

Good Luck!

Wanting straight days might cut you out of some jobs, but you can always ask at an interview. If you work for a doctor's office, that will most likely be just days, and probably no weekends. If you work for a hospital, might be harder to find day shift starting out.
