hey everyone,
I'm at the point in my life where im trying to figure out what i want to do when i graduate. I obviously will go to college, and i want to major in something in business that can open up a career that involves me getting paid a lot of money. Im guessing that that would be something in the business world or a doctor, but probably not a doctor for me. Salary is definitely a big thing for me.

What kind of degrees do CEO's and CFO's and Sales Executives have? My main goal in business is to get rich, and im willing to get whatever kind of degree and join whatever type of business that would help me attain that goal. let me know what you think.

What degrees are very valued in the business world and are a gateway to financial success?

Take various courses in different business-related fields, to determine what most interests you. Going for the "highest paying" fields will get you nowhere if you hate what you're doing. Find something that you love, whether it's marketing, accounting, finance, management, etc., and get really good at it. Be sure to do at least one or two internships during your summers at college. When you eventually hit the job market, companies will pay you accordingly.

Remember, however, that money is an excellent servant, but a cruel master. Heed the words of Henry David Thoreau: "that man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest."

Good luck.

I suggest you subscribe to Forbes and research the backgrounds of top execs. in companies that interest you to get an idea of what they have in common; get an MBA from the best business school you can get into; get out there, hobnob with the business leaders in your community; and, lastly, land a few internships, basically work your way through the system - at the end of the day, it is still who you know that matters. Oh, lastly, though salary may be a "big thing", keep everything in perspective - you don't want to be taken advantage of or end up working your life away, its not worth it.

p.s. Comparing business to law/medicine is like comparing apples and oranges. You can make more money in business than any lawyer or doctor in private practice, and without the cost of insurance and overregulation that they/we have to worry about. (Which is why you see more lawyers/doctors trying to treat their professional practices as if they are businesses, lol.)

Accountant, go to college for 4 years, or 5+1, work a little, then take a CPA exam and become that

you make a good amount being an accountant in general, but a CPA is sick dough

Bio medical engineer or any kind of engineer. CPAs don't make big bucks. You have years of low paid work to be licensed then as an employee you make peanuts. I was a CPA but rather do something else and many CPAs I have known don't do it because it doesn't pay that much. You would be pretty middle class nothing more.

Getting rich isn't just a matter of salary, although obviously a decent salary is required. Getting rich involves living on less than you earn. Instead of spending every cent on the biggest house, the newest car, save a good chunk of your salary and invest it.
