I have an interview tomorrow, which is nothing new to me. I have interviewed with numerous companies and I'm very confident in my interviews and in my experience, usually. This one tomorrow morning is different. Every job I have ever had in the past has been a white collar job, so it's been easy - suit and tie (I'm a guy) Tomorrow I'm interviewing for the railroad (norfolk southern) as a yard clerk. Now, from what I've read, this is a white collar-ish position within the railroad, but it's still in the yard, within blue collar working conditions...I'm really excited about the job, but I don't want to go to the interview overdressed in a suit, or underdressed in khaki's. I'm not above blue collar work, I just never worked in that area. What should I wear?

I work for Norfolk Southern and recommend wearing khakis and a nice shirt. Don't wear the suit because I guarantee you, you'll be over dressed.

Good Luck to you, I hope the interview goes well.

All the advice I can give you is to mention it being a career, often. They want to know that you are serious about being there and this isn't a transitional job for you until something better comes up.

I'd say wear the suit anyway to the interview. Better to take a chance on being a little overdressed than underdressed.

I think wearing a good suit with a tie is always a good idea. I have interviewed many people, and I expect them to dress well. I consider it a sign of respect.

Remember to dress for the job. Do not wear a suit. Wear the nicest dress pants you have and a very nice shirt. No tie.

In reading the brief description, I think that shirt and tie with dress pants would favor over a full suit. Is it cold where you are now? Maybe shirt/tie and a sweater would look nice without being overly pretentious.

I think I would still wear the suit. Or the suit w/o the jacket.
