Alright. So, my dad is gettin older (he's a lil over 50) and all he's ever done in his life is construction work since he was a teenager. he loves what he does, but he can't keep it up much longer because of his health condition. he used to build houses, and did everything (poured foundation, built cabinets, painted, installed electricity, plumbing, etc.). We're trying to give him some options of things he can do that aren't gonna require so much in the physical but will still be fun and interesting to him. So, I was wondering if any of yall guys knew of something...??

The interview was last Weds, right before Thanksgiving. They told me they would call me sometime this week to let me know. I got so caught up with the holiday and did not send a thank you card, which I know I should have done. Is it too late to send this now? It would probably get there in 1 day since I live in the same town. I have his email address as well, should I do this instead or continue with the note?

I need to make £7K until next June so I can pay off some debts. I am not after a career, and because I failed at uni and my work experience is awful, the only job that seems decent and that it shouldn't be a problem to get quickly is a motorcycle courier (in London).

I have a Suzuki GS 500 with a pannier. I am going to buy a GPS system with which I assume the job will become easy (I won't keep getting lost). My insurance is estimated at £80/month.

I've done the job 2 years ago (only for 1 month), but I only made £300-£350/ week. My fuel costs were about £50/week I think. But I think now with the GPS system I won't get lost all the time, so I am assuming I can make more.

I'd like to hear some advice if it's possible to reach my target by 1 June, even better by 1 of May. Remember I am not looking for a long term career, and can bear the harsh conditions as its only 6 months, and after my debt is clear I won't need to work anymore.

Some alternative employment suggestions also helpful

Theres only men work at my workplace (building retail), theres 8 of us working a rota.
I'm Assistant Manager, ive only worked there 6 months, The Manager has just taken on a woman and left me to deal with it as hes on holiday when she is due to start.
Dont get me wrong, i'm more than happy to work with a woman but i am a little concerned as the job entails a lot of heavy lifting and physical work and though i have never seen this woman i'm told shes about 5ft tall and frail looking. Also we only have one toilet with two cubicles.
Whats the law situation with that? must women have their own separate toilet facilities or can she share our cubicles or have one for herself?
Im just confused by it all and cant understand why its been left to me, i feel in a no-win situation, i dont want to seem sexist by making allowances for her, but at the same time i was brought up with old fashioned values, i open doors and give my seat up for ladies, it will be hard to ask her to shift bricks.

I filled out the FAFSA and they say I don't qualify for any grant money. My husband put my name and email into this website www.usgrantfunding.com and they called me. I answered a few questions and the guy told me I qualify for $26,000 for 3 years of school. He spent a good while talking about the company and how it works, being a "middleman" like H&R block is for taxes. Saying that they charge 1% of whatever I can get in the grant. Which is $260 in my case but they won't start anything until that is sent in a money order to an adderess in Delaware. I happen to be a fraud mans christmas present I am so gullible. Luckily I have friends who aren't. He says his name is Tiger Johnson and the phone number is 1-302-269-7649 ext. 4012. He never asked for my adderess. Does anybody know about this company and or scam. I mean if it's real, which I wish it was someone please help me figure out what to do.

It's my senior year in high school, and its time to choose a college. I know that they're two different careers, but was looking for some advice. I have grades in the 90's, and like to think of as being pretty smart. I really don't care for sitting behind an office all day, and like to move around and work on things. Thats why I was moving towards being an electrician. I'd like to make a decent living, but money's not really to big of a decider. Can anyone in both fields tell me what they do day to day, and any advice on choosing? It's appreciated.

I am graduating from undergrad this summer. I will not be allowed to walk across the stage until December (my school does not have commencement celebrations in the summer). I am taking only 1 class in the summer and I will be completed with everything. Will I be able to apply for jobs/internships with major companies that ask for graduates as of May 2008?

I had my first interview with an accounting firm (with about 20 employees) on Oct. 3rd and a second interview on Nov. 5th. The second partner I interviewed with said I would be a good fit and more than capable of doing the work. I have been in contact with the firm and they say they are still really interested. How long does it normally take to get a job offer if they're as interested as they say they are? I only have 3 weeks of college left and I'm starting to get anxious. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I'm interested in working in a hospital, I know there are numerous different positions available but I have never worked in a hospital before and have no experience in that field. Is there a website where I can find out the different positions within the medical field and the amount of training for each? I'm looking for something where I wont have to do a lot of schooling, but where I can find a position in a hospital environment. I'd like to be certified or have a qualification that is needed in the medical field without a lot of schooling. I know the job of Phlebotomist is one in which you don't have to do a lot of training, but I do not wish to draw blood. I'd like a more technical position such as working in X-ray or such. Any help appreciated.

I have tried to find a job for the past year. I am over 50, only have office experience in a avaiation factory. No real skills. I was laid off in 2002 from Boeing. I went to college and graduated with a nursing degree. I couldn't pass the state board so I gave up. I have hurt my back and can't lift over 25-30 pounds. Last Oct, I had open heart surgery to replace a heart valve and my sternum is not growing together properly so the weight restriction stays. Nursing is out of the question now. The degree I am seeking now is in Forensic Science-a Bachelor's Degree. I would be able to teach in college, to work in any chemical lab, hospital lab, forensic center, coronor's office, etc. But I will also be 3 years older. Hence my delimena. Do I stay in school or quit do the contract or temporary job work? I have been turned down for jobs because of my credit and I'm sure my age. I am on financial aide, only support myself and have tried even p-time job and none. Any suggestions

I was offered a specific amount to fly across the country for an interview with this company and fronted the money myself, even though it was over the amount promised. I haven't heard a yes or no from the company yet but I really need the money as soon as possible to cover my basic expenses. It seemed incredibly rude to mention it while I was there and I would still like to leave this company with a good impression of me, even if I am not offered the position. What is the most polite way of asking?

I asked this in another section too.

Recently I was given an assignment to develop code in C++ to automate some administrative tasks. The job was advertised as a Unix development position and an Oracle back end. Come to find out that they expected me to develop the application for cross platform execution for Windows XP with a SQL server back end.

As if that wasn't bad enough, they expected me to do this using only ISO Standard C++ with a Gnu compiler and an old Vis. C++ compiler with no documentation. No DB libraries (AFAIK), no cross-platform libs, nothing. Not only that, but they had no requirements docs & no plan.

I had suggested doing the project in Python, but it was dismissed as he had no Python programmers to maintain it.

They wanted me to design and implement the system, but they did not want give me written requirements or the leeway to use tools of my choosing. And they wanted it in 3 to 5 months.

So the question is, was this as impossible a task as I thought it was
