all the tests tell me that i should do something with the visual arts but i dont think i am that talented, i dont think it brings in good money, i dont know exactly what part of the arts i want to get in....if any at all. I'm pretty much interested in too many things to narrow it down to one thing. is there any free source that could help me narrow it down? anything?

First it depends on your age and those tests show what you may be good at but really you need to do what you will love. Using the test you could become a therapist using art for children therapy or as a teacher of small children or an art teacher. If you have time wait and see, maybe volunteer at a few places and find out what you are passionate for. this is what will make you happy and being happy at the job you do is a real blessing. Good luck. Miss Mary

I'm assuming you're already in college....

Does your college have some sort of career planning or career placement center? They can give you tests (again!) or you can find some online, too. Just to couble-check.

There should also be other aptitudes you have. Maybe you're more cut out to manage a fine arts production facility, or create marketing brochures for arts in the community. Maybe you're cut out to recruit dancers or sculptors to visit your locales. KWIM? You might have an aptitude for business, and then would run a fine arts academy or center, Maybe you should be the treasurer of a fine arts center.

Just b/c the tests say "visual arts" doesn't mean YOU have to BE the artist!

Search the job listings on the internet. Some will intrigue you, others will not.
Dealing only in the abstract sense of what you think you might want will only take you back to where you were before you started.
There are other factors about working that the academic view of the world does not address at all. Stay real, even in choosing a general direction.

Follow my grandmother's advice: Choose a career that you are passionate about. That way, you'll never have to work a day in your life.

Because when you are doing a job you are passionate about, it's like you're not working at all.

So go find out what lights you up... and do it! And it won't matter if it's a career that makes alot of money or not because after more than 30 years on the job force, I can tell you with certainty that people that have jobs they are passionate about ALWAYS make money!
