I am wanting to start a non profit organization for single parents which I am hoping can offer funding to help with home repairs for single parents and many other oppertunities. But the problem is I don't know how to get government funding for a non profit project. Please if anyone know how to get this let me know.

Take a look at the resources available at the Foundation Center at http://foundationcenter.org

They have a list of FAQs under their "Getting Started" tab that provide loads of information about 1) what you need to do to start a nonprofit organization and 2) how to obtain funding, including information of how to submit grant proposals and where to find them.

For the most part, to get government or foundation grants, you need a 501(c)3 designation as a charitable organization for your non-profit. You get that from the IRS.

Good luck.
