Seriously I think a job claiming to know the public concensus and stating it loudly would be perfect for me.
How do I go about it?

My former employer refuses to do employment verifications or to give references.

Is that legal?

Should I call? If so when and what should I ask or say?

The interview was on Oct. 17 and the last round of interviews was conducted on Oct. 22. They mentioned 2 weeks from Oct. 17 which would have been yesterday.

I am going on an interview tomorrow and somewhat unsure on how I should present myself.

Should I show them how smart I am or will that just turn them off? I have a passion for what I do but fear to show it for they might think that I am just trying to show them off.

Should I act slow and weak, letting them feel that I am trainable and willing to learn? The obvious answer is somewhere in the middle but where and how?

Don't know much about how to sell my self, so please help me out. How should I present myself?

I was just looking around on my company's shared drive and I noticed an excel salary sheet. Being a nosey person, I opened it. The thing I noticed was that I'm getting paid as much as the boss's son. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that I'm a degreed engineer working as the lead consultant on multiple projects and he was hired to do administrative and computer assistance work. This seems wrong to me. I know I've been underpaid for a while now, but this really brought it to my attention. I also know I probably should not have opened that file. Should I ask for a pay raise? Any advice? Thanks in advance!

My nonprofit focuses on the preservation of indigenous cultures and the environment worldwide. I have no funding nor any money to create a website. I want to create interest from the outside community and involvement for my organization as well as financial support.

I heard the other day that nurses who work nights have won the right to be paid thier night enhancements whilst off sick. I work for social services on permenent nights and i'm paid my hourly rate plus £2.20 night working enhancement per hour. If we are off on sick leave we lose this £2.20, and also weekend enhancements, so if we are off sick on a weeknight we lose £2.20 per hour, saturday we lose £4.84 per hour sunday we lose £8 per hour. We are persuing this through our union, and I need some information on the award the nurses have won if it is true. It would be useful to present this to our employers and see if it has any effect on our cause! Many thanks for any help offered.

I am in my 40s and have never had a sense of exactly what I'd like to do for a living. I don't like what I do now, but it's what I do and it pays the bills, so I do it. I know I'm not alone in feeling this way and wonder what others think about being in this situation.

I was a nurse at a clinic for about 3 yrs from 1999-2002. The physician I worked for had a wife that called me at home one night and blabbed a bunch of their problems to me. It was very awkward and uncomfortable. Several months later, she accused me of having an "inappropriate" relationship with him which WAS NOT TRUE. I ended up getting fired for "insubordination" tho I never signed an incident report. I can't not put them on my resume' as it was a signifigant part of my employment with valueable skills. I found out from a potential employer that she had outright lied about me and my character, stating negligent nursing care, poor work ethic, etc. All damning charges in the healthcare field and they are not true. I was a very good employee there, loyal and hardworking. I have several other employers that give me great references but this one seems to be slandering me pretty viciously. Can she do this? What can I do to keep it from happening ?

I keep looking for a free source of information on defense contractors. Almost everything out there either costs to join, has out-dated lists or you have to go to multiple sites to get a little bit of information. I'd like to use my decades of military experience to make a decent living. Almost everything I've found from the Transition Assistance Program classes is useless. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Does it truly involve giving people baths, dressing them, cleaning up their behinds like a baby, and working with old people? Aren't there CNA jobs in regular hospitals rather than in just nursing homes? My mom is a retired nurse and said that I want nothing to do with being a CNA because of the work that's involved.

If you are told by your boss, "Don't let people push your around. If there's such things going on, then send them to me. It's my job to handle wrangling (and political conflicts)." I tend to display weak personality.
I've just completed probationary period and have become a regular at this job.
Being told something like this, should you take this as a waring or just consider it as a need to improve myself?
(I am an IT persona at a city government)
