Don't lie--start at the bottom like everyone else. If you have to work at IHOP for a while before they'll take you at Cheesecake Factory, tough; welcome to the world. If you're a hard worker, you can work your way up and out.

Any responsible business will call the places that you said you worked to find out if you were a good employee. When the other restaurants tell them that you never worked there, I can guarantee that they will throw your resume directly into the trash can. Lying on your resume shows them that you are dishonest and they won't want to hire you.
You're better off having no experience than fake experience.

Don't do that. Your job history is something that a potential employer can (and will) check. I'd never hire you. Lie at the very beginning and I can only assume you'll lie later. Grief I definitely don't need. Tell the truth. If you don't get the job, keep looking.

You're looking for trouble if you just make up jobs. Restaurant work is a field where everybody seems to know someone who works any other place, so they're likely to figure out you just lied, and then you have no change to get hired.

Do not say that you had medical or family issues because they are red flags for issues that tend to repeat. Say something like the new place was closer to your home, It had better hours, It was more challanging, you returned back to school... I would find a place that recently went out of business and say that you worked there the whole time. That way you didnt job hop and they cant prove otherwise.
