I am 18 years old, and I am attending a community college. I have been applying for jobs for the past 2 years, and only got one job interview. I've gone to the career center at my college, and they've helped me with applications and making a resume. I've been applying for jobs at retail stores, hotels, resturants, supermarkets, and at coffee shops. I dress nealty and clean when handing in an application, and my spelling on the applications are perfect.

I really need a job with decent pay and a steady source of income. I do have plans to become a flight-attendant for a major airline after college, but I need a job now to gain work experience. I've applied for so many jobs, I've lost track of how many jobs I applied for. I am making follow-up calls about my applications. I feel like it's impossible to get a job, even with help. I need a part-time job, because I am a college stident. Can any of you give me advice?

I am doing MBA. I am interested in operations and Supply Chain Management. But I find that most of my school mates are vying for jobs in Investment Banks or Financial companies. I am not sure which is better.

I was looking at another article and this headline came up: Craigslist Nanny Found Dead in Trunk -- http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,30578,00.html How horrific! Apparently a 19-year old in custody used the job ad as a ruse. It happened in Minnesota.

Another link: http://origin.twincities.com/ci_7299353

It just goes to show how one can't really trust an ad just because it is from a well-known job site.

My biggest dream is to become a pastry chef, not a glamorous one, just a happy semi-successful pastry chef. I love to make desserts, its like art and it makes me and others SO happy. I make cakes from home for fun. But the problem is my parents have always viewed me as the "smart kid" the one with a "good future." When i told them i was leaning away from psychology and toward baking, they nearly passed out. But what confuses me is they've always taught me to do what makes me happy, not rich. I live in the central valley CA so theres not much opportunity for a pastry chef. But i want it so bad, i want to get started while im young and can always change my mind. How do i convince my parents how serious i am? And where do i get my foot in the door to begin with??? Tech schools costs 10s of 1000s of dollars, i cant do that.

I graduated with a bachelor's in computer science.
I am from Mexico but have lived in the US for about 14 yrs. I understand everything in English and I speak English perfectly, the only thing is that I have an accent.

I have been having trouble finding jobs in my career area. Most don't even call me for an interview. So I have lowered my job expectations and now have been applying for technical support, call center jobs. But they have told me that my English is not very good.

I can't understand that. I went through college, have a lot of English speaking friends, not once have they told they didn't understand something I said.

I said, well maybe that's the same for everyone. Yet I hear other people from other countries who speak English much much worse than me, yet they have this high paying jobs, same experience, and even less qualifications than me.

So I reached a conclusion, either I'm being discriminated against... or those people I have heard of are lying and they

I have a friend and she is no longer employeed with this company, however she has a good relationship with the district manager and a not so perfect relationship with the immediate manager. She is still in contact with the other employees who work there and they constantly complain to her about things that the immediate manager is doing that could get her fired. She says she has personally witnessed some very unethical and unprofessional behavior from the manager herself. She says that all of the employees are unhappy and threatening to quit. Only one of the employees has mentioned the situation to the district manager. My friend feels that if no one else says anyhting, then she will because she conastantly has to hear about it from her former employees. The district manager is coming this week. She wants my opinion on what she should do. What do you think?

My boss flies in and out of our office at all times of the day. Most of the time we aren't even sure where he is. On top of that I have work to do and can't hunt him down to ask him for a raise. All of my coworkers and I have been trying to figure out how we could ask him for a raise and in the mean time none of us have gotten one because it is just too wierd.
I have even tried calling him up on his cell phone a couple of times with the intention of asking for a raise or to ask when a good time to talk about a raise would be. He is instantly off about some client and before I know it he has to go. Click.
I deserve the raise, there is no doubt. I haven't had a raise in almost 2 years. The last raise I got was insultingly small. I just need advice as to how to broach the subject and how to keep my cool. How not to chicken out. Advice like for public speaking (what do I do if I start out but then feel like passing out)?

I want my dad to have a job, but the only problem is he speaks only little English and understand some of it. He is very talent in math and physics. He has a lot of experiences of shoe designing. He worked in Nick, Adida, and Reebok company in China. I see him everyday saying that he can not find any jobs that match with him. Either English or college degree problem causes the unemployment. I wonder if you can help him to find a job that related with design of shoes, belt, etc. ( He is extremely well in this, math, and physics) I am very curious if he can be a math or physics teacher. What are the requirement. Maybe he should go to a two-year college and pass the teacher-certificate exam? Please help me!!!!!

I started a new job last monday, it has 4 weeks training at the start of it, I only took the job as I had been out of work for a month and I had,nt heard back from any of the other job interviews which I attended, I have now been offered the job which I wanted which is to start next week, would I have to work any notice in the job Im in now, it would be pointless for me to do another weeks training when I know im leaving, and to be honest I don,t think I could stand another week there,

any suggestions?

My past experiences with Employment/Job agencies or places that help you find employment has been bad. Out of all the employment agencies that I have gone to not one has been active in finding me a job. Do they work?
