I am 18 years old, and I am attending a community college. I have been applying for jobs for the past 2 years, and only got one job interview. I've gone to the career center at my college, and they've helped me with applications and making a resume. I've been applying for jobs at retail stores, hotels, resturants, supermarkets, and at coffee shops. I dress nealty and clean when handing in an application, and my spelling on the applications are perfect.
I really need a job with decent pay and a steady source of income. I do have plans to become a flight-attendant for a major airline after college, but I need a job now to gain work experience. I've applied for so many jobs, I've lost track of how many jobs I applied for. I am making follow-up calls about my applications. I feel like it's impossible to get a job, even with help. I need a part-time job, because I am a college stident. Can any of you give me advice?

this is a tip my manager gave me about your application:
Make it unique, but honest.
When asked about work experience, if you cook, clean, do dishes, do yardwork, make sure to put that. Even stuff around the house is considered experience.
My manager put down cook, maid, dishwasher, odd jobs outside of the house. For desired salary she put down: a roof over my head.
The people hiring thought her application was so unique and funny, they decided to hire her.
Employers often see hundreds of applications a week, so make yours stand out and make it known that you truly desire a job.

Look at your resume and figure out what you have left out. Did you have any summer jobs or work part-time while you were attending high school? Make sure you have those jobs down. Also, did you take part in extracurricular activities? On my resume, I mentioned that I was Boys Social Convener for two years in a row in high school (was elected in Grades 11 and 12.)
Don't make any follow up calls; I'm pretty sure this will turn them off, as bosses are busy people, they have lots of other resumes and business documents to look at, and they may see you as being impatient. Let them call you. If they like your resume, they will tell you so and arrange for a job interview at your convenience. If they don't, they will tell you politely. You might want to post your resume and a cover letter on the internet, seeking out local companies. Try http://www.workopolis.com
Good luck and don't give up hope.

Try networking through friends and family. If you hae someone on the inside who can recommend you, you'll stand a better chance of getting a job.
I would take a hard look at how you act when on interviews or submitting applications. Something about you is turning people off - maybe you come across as arrogant or rude evern though you don't mean to. If you have an interview and don't get the job, ask the interviewer to tell you what you can change, if anything.

Don't give up there is an old saying, "the sqeaky wheel gets the grease". Pick out the jobs you want, go after them, literally (GO) after them, do not send resumes, take them. do not call on your follow ups, GO SEE the hiring supervisor/manager let them see you over and over again and again, bugg the crap out of them, IN PERSON, They'll hire you. That's the kind I would hire, you will get your job. Good luck and god bless.

Most campuses have job services programs available on campus. They usually provide help with resumes. etc.. Also, try your local government job center. They usually have tons of job offers.

I don't know if this is of any help, but many of the larger supermarkets are always looking for shelf stacker's.

If you are planning on being a flight attendant then you must be a fairly attractive young lady.
I hear alot that travel agents make a very good living planning air travel and cruiselines and vacation packages for clients.

Read "Message to Garcia" by Elbert Hubbard.
That's all you need to get jumpstarted, and leave the competition behind.
GOOGLE should have it...
