I have a full time office administration job. I have been working at this employer for 6 months. Recently through some differences with my line manger, I have had a verbal warning. I think this was most unfair, and so do some of my colleagues, but they are afraid to speak out, because they need a job. There is no union that I can join at work.

Can you please advice how I could join a union, which one is the best one to join, and how long I need to be with them to use their services?

Finally, do you think I should get advice from other sources like the citizens advice bureau, instead of joining a union?

Thanks

I think my college is ripping me off to begin with. I was told that financial aid only covers the cost of courses for my degree, any extra classes I must pay for. However, at my previous school financial aid covered the cost of classes long as you were a full time student and up to 18 credits (for any classes, degree related or not)

With that said, I was wanting to get an AS in both transcription and coding. It was only 3 extra classes but I found out I would have to cover the cost of them my self. Because I'm planning a wedding, 19, and work part-time at old navy I'm a little tight on cash and don't want to pay for the extra 3 classes. (I can always go back later to get the other, but right now I need to choose which path for next semester's classes.

Which is the more important skill to obtain a job in a doctor's office? I'm assuming coding would be.

Alright, so the other day i found this job listing on craigslist.com(san diego) about a new deli/sandwich shop that was supposed to open late september. So i e-mailed him/her ( kym udall ---you decide) and we scheduled an interview at starbucks at 3:00p.m. So i went and clueless as i am i realized i had no clue as to who i was looking for, (i mean no phone#, appearance, exact location) so i waited for abou 20 mins but didn't show up. So I e-mailed him/her back saying that i was a complete fool for not asking for a number and she/he responded by saying that "oh im sorry, but i got stuck at another store down at chula vista, and couldn't make it, but heres my phone number--- ---- and thanks for sticking in there". So my question is, should i call her/him for another interview or should i wait for him/her to respond back on hotmail. I need a job right now. ? thanks, i don't want to sound desperate for a job. but i do need a job. what should i say? thanks.

I get off work at 7am then I have an interview at 10:30am- when I'm typically sound asleep. I'll have a chance between work and the interview to get some breakfast and a cup of coffee, but I'm still worried I'll look tired and that will effect my chances of getting the job. Do you think I should mention I just got off work or will that seem like I'm fishing for pity?

Last year (my first year in the organization) I have been awarded an 8% salary increase. This year it is only 5 %. At the same time I receive more commissions now because I have more of my projects developed. What that decrease in the salary increase could mean? Could that indicate that I am not considered a important employee as I used to be considered last year. Shall I discuss this with my manager

i have been an employee for 10 years at the same job. i make $10.00 per hour. when i started, i was at minimum wage which i think was $6.25. what i was wondering is, can they legally pay a person so little that has so much experience. i know another person has worked there for 12 years and makes $11.50 an hour. we both love what we do and where we work, it just something we were curious about. we work at a small store

I tried asking him a legit question about his scheduling and this is what he yelled at me “You will not speak unless you're spoken to!"

I wanted to know if there is something I can do legally. Im not the only one who gets this treatment but I seem to be the one he likes to take his anger out on. He yells at me like that all the time and of course Im looking for another job but I refuse to leave until I have something. Last time I left thinking I had another job when it was not finalized I got in major debt. I want to see if anyone can give me advice, should I go to the labor board? Will they do anything??? Please help.

There is a guy here who chats on IM all day. It is unfair to have to work for my paycheck, but this guy gets paid for doing nothing. Would it be better to talk directly to his boss, or send an anonymous note to his boss?
