I want to take my 3 weeks of vacation at my current company now. DUring this time, I want to start at my new company...I intend to tell my current company that I quit at the end of the 3 weeks...but really I already started elsewhere. I know this isn't exactly ethical...but is it illegal at all?

Maybe this won't make much of a difference, but I'm wondering which time-slot I should sign up to interview during. The interviewer will be on campus conducting interviews from 8:30 AM-4:00 PM, with a couple breaks in the middle. There are 6 time slots of an hour each. I'm wondering if it would be to my advantage to go for an early, middle, or late slot. What do you guys think? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Mine happened 6 years ago and it was a non violent crime (drug offense) and havent been arrested for anything not even a driving ticket since then. I finished school and got my AA. and im still having alot of problems getting a decent job because of my past. Always held a solid job (just not the pay that i want) and its just so hard. Is there a certain time frame before I might be able to get a lawyer to go to court and get it taken off of my record?

The only recoding engineering program in my city is a specialization in a music diploma. I do not necessarily want to got school for 2 years to learn music engineering. I am 14 and just got my eagle on October 1st. It was a happy moment coming out of the board of review, I have to admit. I have been in scouting for a while and to get Eagle felt good. Does it really help you get into a college of choice? Will it help me get a job that I really want? Will adults, coaches and teachers look at me any differently if they know?

I can't stand dead end jobs. I have held about 6 in the past 1 year because I can't hesitate to kiss goodbye anything that doesn't meet my needs. Am I crazy or what? Why should I have patience holding a low wage job or taking shitt from a disrespecting employer?

A few years have gone by and I am just realizing that I've wasted my life in a crummy job. I don't know how to forgive myself. I feel like I've just woken up from a dream and I'm saying "I don't have to take this anymore!" But why the years of sleepwalking--is it low self esteem? Am I just realizing my potential now?

I will soon be finishing a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. I originally went into social work with the intention of becoming a therapist with my own private practice.

Although I love the work and I love my clients, I am really not cut out for this field due to the low pay and high demands/burnout. I have SO much respect for people who do this work but I know it's not for me. The degree is teaching me a lot, though--about health care, communication, systems, etc.

I am asking for serious and encouraging answers to the following. 1. Will having a Master's degree--even if I work outside of social work--be to my benefit and help me get a higher paying job than I would have with only a bachelors? 2. Besides for HR, what are different directions I can go with this degree (outside of social work)?

Thank you.

I want to be in the medical field. I have considered being a nurse practitioner, physician's assistant, registered nurse, occupational therapist, and a dental hygienist. The duties of nursing seem overwhelming but I would get to help people, occupational therapy seem very physical, dental hygienists have to look in peoples mouths and the nurse practitioners and physician assistants are responsible for diagnosing and prescribing medicine which could be very challenging and overwhelming. I like all of the careers because I would get to help people and they are in demand, but I can not decide on which one. Can someone give me any opinions, experience, or anything on these careers that would help me? Thanks

My typing speed is approximately 55wpm, data entry is around 6,000 kph and I know MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook quite well. I have also done quite a bit of mail room work in the past. I've posted my resume on Yahoo! HotJobs, Careerbuilder, Monster, etc., replied to postings online, registered with staffing firms. I've always gone months between jobs and had to explain gaps in employment. I am about to take a night course to learn MS Powerpoint. Does anyone have any other ideas as to how I can get a full-time job w/benefits?

If you get overlooked for a promotion in which the person who is promoted over you was no where near your education level, experience, and longevity with the company, what is the best way to deal with this?

Should I just realize life is not fair, or should I get a lawyer and sue if it is clear I was treated unfairly? I am not sure how to go about doing all this, I just know that I am more qualified than the person that will be getting it, and in fact even after expressing my interest, they have not been keeping me updated as to when they will be filling the spot.
