Mine happened 6 years ago and it was a non violent crime (drug offense) and havent been arrested for anything not even a driving ticket since then. I finished school and got my AA. and im still having alot of problems getting a decent job because of my past. Always held a solid job (just not the pay that i want) and its just so hard. Is there a certain time frame before I might be able to get a lawyer to go to court and get it taken off of my record?

Forever. Period. You'll never legally own a gun and you'll never be able to vote. It doesn't matter if you were violent or not.

You can try to get a pardon. That's the only way you can get to be a "normal" citizen again.

As most people have said, you can not EVER have the felony removed from your record. But what you can do is sorta make it invisible. For felonies, I think after 7 years (It could be longer, it could be shorter) you can get the case or charge expunged from your record. Now that doesn't mean it will be erased from your record but when someone tries to give you a background check, all they see is something along the lines of saying "case closed" or "charge expunged!" They will know you have been to court for SOMETHING but they won't ever be able to know the details.... hope this helped!

Felonies stay on your record unless you get them expunged by a pardon.

they stay on your record forever. but most jobs only go back about for your 10-year history. just check the application for the selected time period search.

they never "go away" though where i live on your code of conduct (which many places here look at)they do not show up after a set timeframe depending on the extent of charges etc.
