First, congratulations from a fellow Eagle scout.
It won't help everytime but there are many times that if the interviewer is involved in Scouting it will help. If not, you need to educate them on the leadership skills, communication skills, etc that you developed on your way to Eagle scout.
Shortly after I received my Eagle award (I was 17) I applied at Sears for a job. When the women accepted my application she said that there were no positions open for the department I was applying for. She looked at my application and saw that I had listed eagle scout, she called every department in the store while I waited to see if there were any openings. I don't think she would have done that had I not been an Eagle Scout.
Long story short, I ended up finding another job before Sears had an opening. Don't stop now. Continue to help others in their advancement and much luck in your future.

Being the father of 2 college students that are also Eagle Scouts, I can say they were better prepared for the rigors of college; it helped with time budgetting, preparation, all the things that their Scouting experiences taught them. There are also scholarship opportunities through NESA, and other funds are available when people see that a young man is an Eagle Scout.

Hello steven:
Congratulations on your award. If you expect the medal to be a magic key that opens doors for you, you might be disappointed. The skills that you developed while earning the Eagle are what will get you into a better school, and may help you land a better job. Learning to accomplish a large task by breaking it into smaller tasks, developing a plan, leading others to accomplish the plan, and then following up on that plan are the skills that others will expect of an Eagle Scout.
To get into a top school, you will need excellent grades, a rounded educational experience, and a proven track record of accomplishments.
Keep on Scoutin'

By earning the rank of Eagle Scout, you have achieved far more than most of your peers. If you apply the same attitudes and ambitions to your studies and career development as you did to earn Eagle Scout, you will quite likely enter the college of your choice and be highly successful in your chosen career. Most colleges and employers look for high-achieving individuals, and will recognize that attainment of Eagle Scout is an indication of a high achiever. Congratulations on a great achievement that you should definitely be proud of.

It will HELP with college, jobs, and military service- but is not a magic ticket.
I got my Eagle in 1975 and it has been mentioned as being a factor in jobs I have gotten ever since.
Most coaches seem to like it, but most other people don't think about it a lot. The question is- how will they learn about it? If you are bragging it up, it may turn some people off. If you wear the lapel pin and people ask about it, they will usually express congratulations.
