Given the economy we're currently in, high paying careers are really hard and rare to come by especially if you just wanna go as far as an associate degree only.. Most people these days with an Associates degree just slide by..and barely have enough $$ to keep a roof over their head since gas and food prices are so outrageously expensive.. You would make a load more $$ if u actually go for 4 year degree... You said medical field so I can think of Dental Assisting, Dental Billing, Dental Hygenist, Masseuse, and perhaps Dispatch...for Police/Fire/Hospitals.. you wouldnt have to deal with dead people on a personal daily basis.. Getting a job in the medical field is nice, since u wouldn't have to worry much about lay-offs..but high paying careers totally vary by office location, or hospital or what ever you decide to get into.. Nothing these days "pays high"...unless there's a 4 year degree involved. Good luck...

Cosmetic surgery is highest because it's a cash business and not dictated by insurance. Radiologists come in second due to the high reimbursement for tests by insurance and the volume of patients they can treat. A radiologist can treat a ton of patients in a day because they're usually just looking at films and sending the report to the primary doc. A surgeon can only do so many surgeries in a day.

The highest paying specialty is anesthesia. However, it also has the highest malpractice insurance rates. Make sure you check out malpractice insurance rates before choosing a specialty if you're focused on income.

My understanding is that plastic surgery and orthopaedic surgery are very lucrative. Also, my understanding is that (among doctors) psychiatry is among the lower paying specialties.
