A minimum of two years in an accredited school is required to become eligible to take the registry exam in radiography. There are several schools in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, but getting in is very competitive. There are almost always open positions for registered technologists in this area. The "less that a year" programs lead to a NCT, or non-certified technologist license. Most area hospitals do not hire NCT's because they are very limited in what they can do.

You need to go to school for 2 years and get a certificate as an X-ray technician and you can do a search and narrow it down in your area. Chances are there are schools for this near you. There are usually demands for this, but again, you must check the area. The closer you are in a city environment, the better your chances are that they are looking for them. Try major hospitals in your area and remember, the larger the hospital, the more people are going to be vying for the position(s), but the higher the pay will be as opposed to a smaller suburban hospital. There are many in my area (NJ) in the Breast Services (mammographies).

To become a radiologic technologist, you go for a minimum of about 2 years full time.

You can find accredited schools here: http://arrt.org/index.html?content=http://www.arrt.org/nd/listOfSchools.ndm/listSchools&iframe=yes
Choose "Radiography" and submit, and go down the list to find schools near you.
