I recently accepted a job that starts in 4 days. The job has a 90-day probation period and is "at will". Recently I was told that I will have to ocassionally go to their other office (which is a 1 hour drive both ways). I was originally told that I would only work in their main office (which is a short bus ride away from my house). I mainly accepted the position because of the proximity and access to public transportation.

I can have at least 3 offers in my hand by the end of the month if I decide to renege on the job I accepted. One of the jobs can be a long term job that is an excellent career path. So I'm not concerned about being unemployed.

How can I quit the job I accepted? I think they misrepresented the position.

I hv been in mgmt & admin for upteen years. Got what i ever wanted to achieve. Since moving to U.S., i hv been seriously thinking of changing my career and go into nursing. Will have to start from the basic of taking CNA, then LVN then RN etc...one step at a time. What is the most effective approach? In term of saving time and money....??? (which is not on my side.)

I've worked in several stores since I was 16 but now I want something that pays a little more. 8 dollars is minimum wage here in canada. I'm looking for something over 10 dollars. Maybe 15? I'm currently changing programs in college so I don't think I can actually find work using my education. I'm transfering to a nutrition program at another university.

Anyways, I need work!
What kind of positions should I search for that would suit my age and salary expectations? Office work? A store manager? What else? Maybe something in the health care industry?

I would love to be an automotive mechanic but I will be a college graduate next year. Do you think I am selling myself short and not reaching my full potential? I want to do what I love, but I wonder if I can do more than that.

I currently am a junior math major in a smaller sized city. I work at chilis as an expo/qa making 10/hr. I work only work roughly 26 hrs a week (ten shifts/week). I cant stand working here, but I need the money. Id rather work at Starbucks as a barista (7 an hr)... Should I quit my job and find something else, or just wait till I graduate? ( Thats in 2009).

What does "at which time mean"?

I applied for a job a few weeks ago and Monday (of this week) I sent a follow up letter, on the same day, I got a reply from them saying I should resend them my resume and "at which time i will be contacted for an interview".

Does this mean that they will DEFINATELY hear from them? I really want this job. Is it ok for me to send ANOTHER email asking what the status is?

I already did the interview and everything went okay. I've been told many times from other interviews this "we will go over your papers and see if you fit this job and then we will call" I usually don't get a call. Do you know if I got the best buy job, I think I did okay in the interview, how long does it take them to call?

Any advise would help.
They take over my work and when I told them not too, they felt offensive. I went and complained and I heard from my other co-workers so did they. Now the three of us have stopped talking to each other and the work enviroment it very depressing. Please help. Working on what I was suppose to be working on would make it look like to the managers that (the two of them) are better and are not only handling their work but mine as well.

My bf just got fired last night because he input a customer check twice on 2 separate occasions. He workd for Movie Gallery. They trained him to be a SCSA (Senior Customer Service Associate) which is basically a MOD (Manager On Duty). He would take care of all the paperwork @ night before he closed the store. According to him when they do the training for it, it's bascially a teach yourself type thing. They don't really do much hands on/example training. Well I guess there was a couple of times @ 2 separate stores that he input a customer check twice and didn't catch it when he went to do paperwork @ the end of the night. I guess it went all the way up to corporate level in paperwork troubles, but I still don't see why they would fire him over that.

What do you think? If you are an employer what would you do and why?

I think they could have at least let him keep his job, just maybe bumped him down to a CSA and not let him close the store or do any paperwork.

Since the legal job market is so tight, can lawyers get hired as papalegals in order to stay in the legal industry? Or are they overqualified and thus automatically disqualified?

I recently started a new job and the previous girl that had the job worked 40 hours a week. I manage to get all the work done in less than 20 hours. I find myself bored and looking for something else to do. I ask around the office and no one wants to let me help. I am not sure what to do. I don't want to work 40 hours, but sometimes I work as little as 8-10 hours a week. It is all based on my supervisor's schedule/workload - he gives me work and is only in the office 2 days a week. I try to pace myself, but I usually just get the work done fast. I notice other employees surf the internet during slow periods. I don't do this, when I am at work I just want to work. Any ideas?

So this job I've always wanted, dont necessarily have the education for it, but through my experiences I have the skill & knowledge and passion. I think in this field its that that counts anyway. So I have a panel interview tomorrow, how do I sell myself in the best way possible to ensure that I impress the interviewers pants off ?
