I fear that doing all the work required to get a chartered financial analyst designation simlply does not pay off in terms of job opportunities. Is this true?

I am looking for a new career in the same industry that I work in now. I'm a smart person, but not necessarily qualified for the jobs that I apply for. However I know if I was given a chance, they'd be glad to have hired me.

Have you ever lucked out and gotten a job you weren't exactly qualified for? How did you manage to pull that off? These pesky employment agencies are so focused on the black-and-white they make it seem impossible to start a new career!

My fiance is a HGV Driver for Travis Perkins and very rarely has a dinner break (about once every 2 weeks!), because when you are a driver and you are stuck in traffic you are classed you are on a break, but he never has a dinner break! Plus he is always doing overtime because his boss keeps taking too many drops for the day!!!! He will say you have one drop left and then when he gets back from that drop, he says there is another 7 drops to do in less than 1 and a half hours!!!!!! Surely this is unfair and illegal. If not, its definately not equal, because every other employer (even the part time staff) have 1 hour dinner a day!!!

I brought something up to him 6 months ago about problems with reporting and how they needed to be checked. I was told that the system was fine and that I was paranoid.

EXACT I mean exact problem reared its ugly head (not that it has not happened since I brought it up the first time). Now it's an issue and he has run to the companies president to show him what he has found.......I was not allowed to say anything but told to fix it.

Why are some bosses just control freaks who are afraid to let someone else know that they DO NOT know it all?

I have bachelor's degree in accounting with 2.1 major gpa. I blame that on my laziness when I was at the university. Now I want to get into big 4 accounting firm but I heard that they won't even consider you unless you are a high academic performer. Should I start over and apply to another university to get my 2nd bachelor's degree with same accounting major and do better this time so that big 4 accounting firms will consider me?

Going through a RIF and a few people are out on vacation / sick time (not FMLA). Can you RIF them as of the RIF date or do you have to wait until they return to be their official "last date" paid through?

UUuuuughhhh..I am so sick and tired of my boss being so dang bossy! I have been doing my repetitive, routine, mundane job for three years now. I know what I am doing...do you have any suggestions on what I can say to him? I ALREADY KNOW WHAT HE IS GOING TO SAY & DO BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS SAME THING OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER-----its like hes is trying to tell me how to do things when I am the one that has manage and created all the systems that run this company-:(

It seems as if all my friends had a father or uncle that got them a position at one of the big firms, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, etc. Unfortunately, I do not have these connections. Do you have any suggestions on how I get these companies to consider me for hire?

My hubbie was told he had a job from a job agency (because the original person they gave it to let them down) starting the following week. So he turned down a different job because this was longer term. On ringing up to confirm his start time he was told that the person they orginally hired has not let them down and if he did they would ring my husband. Does anyone know if he can complain because now the agency are avoiding his calls because they know they were in the wrong?

I'm a qualified groom who works my *** off for no reason, my employer doesn't appreciate me even though I do 11 hour days 6 days a week and have 11 horses to do on my own. I'd like to find someone to work for who doesn't take the mickey (I know they exist-I worked for one!). I'm not afraid of hard work, in fact I love it and horses are my world - I just don't like being lied to about what my job is! Any nice employers out there - Warwickshire area only please - let me know! I have my own car and do not need live in!

I'm going to stay for maybe 2 months. Will working in another state affect my taxes for 2007??? I know its probably a dumb question. But why not ask.
