Have you ever heard the saying that a good boss puts smarter people than himself underneath him. This makes him look better. Since your boss has you in a no win situation, my suggestion is to find another job. Control freaks will never change their ways and you will always be in the losing end of that scenario.

Because they are insecure and afraid that others will find out that they don't know everything (even things they really should know.)
Some bosses feel that just being the boss means they must know everything and not show "weakness" by asking others for input and help. This is usually the hallmark of an inexperienced or poor leader.
The best leaders surround themselves with highly competent people and use their skills to the benefit of the team. Their employees get visibility with top management and have career opportunities. Guess whose employees are happier and more productive?

I noticed you said Him.
I have noticed that most men will climb over who ever is in there way to be successful, and they do it through others good intentions, which is exactly what he does to you.
I had a boss who was similar, and always dismissed the facts in front of him too, and eventually I ended up terminated because I was more less the person who was always the barrier of bad news. Then, when the things went wrong my solution back when, would be incorporated, and who took the credit, you guessed it him. Good luck to you with this type of boss, your going to need all the stamina you can bring.

sounds like your boss is the type of person that takes credit for other people's work- not a good situation. one thing is to work as a team, which means you don't always get the glory and acclamation for your individual efforts, but if he continuously tries to keep you in the background, while he presents your ideas, findings, etc. as his own, then he's up to something. i know the type, and as much as it stinks, these people often get away with it until somoene puts a stop to it. try to find a diplomatic, tactful way of directing your concerns to management, or if your relationship with him allows it, tell him that you don't appreciate what he's doing- at least he'll know you're on to him.
