I currently have a full-time job that I enjoy. It pays okay, but not enough for me to cover my bills without obtaining a second job. I'm one of those super-energetic workaholic types that wouldn't mind working around the clock, if it means keeping my car and my place!(and no, moving home to family is NOT an option so don't waste your time suggesting it) I've been ambitiously jobsearching for a second job at restaurants and retail(Home Depot, Lowes, grocery stores). Problem is, a lot of employers have a big attitude about me having a 2nd job! They're like, "How can you handle more than one job?" But they do not know me, or the fact that I skipped a year in college and was triple-majoring, or the 14-hr days that I pulled on a regular basis at a job a few years ago when times were tough. I tried not telling them about my day job, but then they get the wrong impression that I can work "any" hours, when I can't. How should I approach this scenario? Any places that WOULD be understanding??

for something but I do not know what. I have tried do online test but that does not help. I live in a small community with not much available. What should I do? This is really important to me. I am 32 and feel like a failure with what I have not done with my life. I know that I am capable of a lot more. Any ideas? I do have 3 children and I need to work full time.

I work in a dispatch center with four other dispatchers besides myself. I am #2 in seniority but was hired the exact same day as the girl who's #1. My boss and her are bestfriends and have been for the last seven years. Two years ago we became the founding members of a brand new PD and both of us started on the same day. After a few months the others in the center were hired. Out of all the candidates interviewed for the job (some of which had substantial experience in the field) my boss chose two more people from the old agency she was from and one person without any experience at all. Now my boss has been sending "her buddies" to all the training sessions even though I've repeatedly requested to attend training on official forms. Even the schedule we work is tailored to fit the #1 girl's wishes.

What would you do if this were you? I've checked into being a whistleblower but don't know if I have a leg to stand on.

(cont.) elsewhere? To get my foot in the door, I am considering taking a receptionist position just to be involved with a certain company that's involved in my 'dream career'...but I'm a college grad and a receptionist would be a step down for me (right now I have a higher level position at a company that is nice - but it's definitely not my 'dream job'). It's like - if you want to be an actress - do you become a receptionist at the biggest production company in the U.S. OR do work as an executive at a different/random company just to pay the bills?? Help! I need career advice!! Thanks.

I have a co-worker who makes it very clear that she cannot stand me. I've never done anything to her. She has a reputation of being difficult; she was actually demoted because the people she supervised gathered together and reported her tyrant behavior to her boss. They stuck her in my department just over a year ago. After I pointed out an error that she made, she's had an attitude with me ever since...

How can I turn shyness into a positive trait (the only one I can think of is that it means i'm dedicated to my work sooner than wasting time chatting unnessesarily but i'm not sure how to word that *if at all*)

I interviewed for a position that I am very interested in two weeks ago today. I sent a hand-written thank you note immediately after the interview. One week later, I sent an email. Should I follow up again, or just assume that if they are interested, they will call me?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

About a 6 weeks ago i had to take time off work due to a back problem. I was initially sign off work sick for 2 weeks when i decided i was well enough to return to work. On my first day back i again had severe pain and was taken to hospital. My GP sign me off sick again for a further 2 weeks. i am now being treated for my back problems by a chiropractor. He wasn't happy that i return to work due to my job intailing a lot of walking etc. I spoke to my boss and he said he was happy to accomodate me coming back to work and that he would put me on light duties (have me in the office). Myself and my Chiropractor were happy at this because this gave me the opportunity to put ice on my back. (i have been advised that i need to ice my back for 10 mins every hour to stop swelling in my back due to the treatment i have been recieving). My boss is now being awkward about me being on light duties and trying to pressure me into going out on patrol again. Do i have a right to refuse todo this

I cant stand real estate people especially property managers, mine demands that I pay rent on time and if I am even a day late I get a call from her even though I have been renting through them for 2 years and never given them any problems. Oh and when I want something done they take 2 weeks to get around to it.
