A while back I applied for a housekeeper job at a hotel. I was inteviewed by the head housekeeper who basically told me that I got the job, I just needed to meet with the new owner. When I came back later to meet with her and she learned that I was only 17 and couldn't work on Sundays (for religious reasons; I could work every other day of the week) she wouldn't let me have the job. Is this discrimination?
Also do you think people (and businesses) have the right to discriminate?

Is one better than the other? The woman I interviewed with today gave me her business card which has an email address on it. I was planning on sending her a thank you email, but my friend said it would be better if I sent her a hand written thank you card.

I will be graduating from Ohio State University with an accounting degree shortly but I have not landed a job yet. My plan was to take the CPA exam after I graduate if I did land a job before I graduated. I was also thinking about taking the Becker review course and hopefully passing the CPA exam the first time around. Maybe I can put it on my resume and would this increase my chances of finding a job. My goal is to work with the Big Four. Thanks.

There is a businessman who calls my office at least once a day. His company works closely with mine on a couple of different long-term projects. He is an unpleasant man -- unfriendly, aggressive, irritable. As far as I can tell, no one who works with him cares for his bad attitude. He's been short-tempered with me a few times for things that I have no control over.

I know that I will be dealing with this man daily for a very long time. I want to get along with him. How on earth can I get him to lighten up within sacrificing professionalism?

(My personal contact with him is limited to the phone).

He always make promises and evrything but nothing cme true!

We are about to sign the contract for "regularization". But as we all know, you need to pay benifits, taxes etc...

And he wont give me a raise! that would mean, that my salry will be deducted and I will be eraning less than all of my coworkers!

he said that the increase (salary) will be base on promotions.

Promorions?
I was already promoted before but never get to sit on the position.

And I know that this promition thing is also one of his imaginary promises!!

What should I do?

Please help

I had a 3rd interview for a job on Wednesday and the company told me they were deciding between me and one other candidate, and that I would hear from them "very soon."

I want to follow up with them tomorrow, because I haven't heard anything and am going crazy waiting (!). My question is, how should I phrase the e-mail? Also, should I e-mail the owner, who I interviewed with, or his assistant, who scheduled the interview?

Thanks :)

I'm about to finish college. However, I've come to the realization that I hate my major and don't want to pursue it. This scares me because I don't know what I'm going to do when I've graduated. Is there anyone else who felt or is feeling this way? Did you discover a career that you loved? If so, how long did it take and how did you discover it?
