First thing to do, start looking for another job. Do not under any circumstances bad mouth your boss during this process, your new employer will look at you as a trouble maker. Your reason for moving could be to broaden your horizons, increase your resume, learn a new skill etc. never because your old boass is a schmuck. Second thing to do, go out of your way to show your boss self initiative, being extra polite and charming to him at all times, even when it makes you want to pewk. This will accomplish several things, primary being his last recollections of you for his recommendation for you to your new employers will be positive. Make him forget you had had a chip on your shoulder about him for a while, make him think you think he is the best.
Alternative solution could be to enlist the assistance of fellow emplyee to correct your bosses bad behavior making him(the boss) think it is his idea....you seem smart enough to figure this out. Remember above all else...this is just a job and if you don't have fun going to work, get a new job. There are thousands of great bosses out there...maybe you will be one someday and this experience is to show you how not to do it....good luck....praying doesn't hurt either....tom

Um, sadly, you have a couple pretty simple options here:
Keep the job, cash the checks (inadequate as they may be), and try to be happy. Or, not. There may be a framework within your company to allow you to reach over your immediate superior's head to voice a grievance...but this usually doesn't yield the kind of long term results you're looking for. (A company that puts a liar in a position of authority typically has the same kind of culture at the top.)
If it's really such a bad deal...suck it up for now...and start looking for a new job. The market isn't that bad in most of the country and if you're really worth more money than you're making today, plenty of companies will be happy to have you. The important thing is to not lose your cool in the office or give them any other reason to fire you, you don't want to lose your bad job before you line up a better one, if you can help it.

Fire him!
That's right, you can fire your boss by quitting and finding a different job.
If you want to try a different tactic, write down a list of all the promises he has made and broken, and all the ways you and your colleagues have been screwed. If you have emails or memos backing you up, even better. Then take him aside privately and tell him his credibility in this organization is low because he has broken all those promises. Tell him it destroys morale. Ask him to step up and be a better boss! The key is to take as much confrontation out of this as possible. You want to make this something to motivate him. Difficult? Absolutely.

If you are ready for a little bit of a commitment, join the Marines, or I guess if I want to not be bias, just teh military in general, although the Marines will put you in the best physical shape of your life. Don't think, omg I am gonna die. If your a woman they can't send you to fight. In fact, I know some girls that would join the Marines in a heartbeat if they did allow women to fight. All this means is that you probably have a bigger chance of dying in a car accident. On top of that ,you get free college, housing, and full medical coverage. If you ask me you can't beat that.

I am not sure what your job entails but it would not hurt you to improve your language skills. Also check your sentance structure, and spelling. If your job is somehow related to this then that could be the reason your boss is not promoting you. You can always look for another job..No one forces a person to keep going to a job they do not like. Find something you like and make sure you are good at it.

Well for starters welcome to the real world ! When you work for someone else don't ever expect great things cause they never come , If you want a promotion own your own business , if you want promises kept own your own business
But if you like your J.O.B. then i am sorry but you will just have to deal with it just like so many other people including myself .
Good Luck in whatever you choose .

Your boss is ethically challenged and you should find another
one ASAP. He'll never stop cheating you, people like that
don't change. I had a similar boss, and I got out of there to
a much better job. Good luck.

If you have lost respect for your boss there are only 2 things you can do. One learn to respect him inspite of his problems
and trust that he will respond in the same. Or get another job.
Best wishes I know it is not easy.
