I will be graduating from Ohio State University with an accounting degree shortly but I have not landed a job yet. My plan was to take the CPA exam after I graduate if I did land a job before I graduated. I was also thinking about taking the Becker review course and hopefully passing the CPA exam the first time around. Maybe I can put it on my resume and would this increase my chances of finding a job. My goal is to work with the Big Four. Thanks.

Being able to say you are a CPA means you know your stuff.

All things being equal, if it came down to you or someone who isn't a CPA, we'd be negotiating salary right now.
Good luck.

Generally, an internship is a guranteed job offer. Since you did not obtain an internship, you should have actively pursued a full time position with one of the big four beginning in your junior year. If you did not actively pursue a position with a big 4 firm and only gave them an opportunity to meet you in one interview, you put yourself in a very poor position to get a job, regardless of whether or not you passed the CPA exam on your first attempt. You may be able to obtain a position with a big 4 firm after getting a year or two of experience with a local firm, but you will still need to actively pursue this change. Anyone who tells you that you can get the same kind of experience working for a local firm that you can get with one of the big 4 has simply never worked for a big 4 firm. The experience of a big 4 firm will pay dividends to you for the rest of your professional career, regardless of where it takes you.
