I work in a dispatch center with four other dispatchers besides myself. I am #2 in seniority but was hired the exact same day as the girl who's #1. My boss and her are bestfriends and have been for the last seven years. Two years ago we became the founding members of a brand new PD and both of us started on the same day. After a few months the others in the center were hired. Out of all the candidates interviewed for the job (some of which had substantial experience in the field) my boss chose two more people from the old agency she was from and one person without any experience at all. Now my boss has been sending "her buddies" to all the training sessions even though I've repeatedly requested to attend training on official forms. Even the schedule we work is tailored to fit the #1 girl's wishes.

What would you do if this were you? I've checked into being a whistleblower but don't know if I have a leg to stand on.

I am already the CTO so obviously I have room to request training. The two that always go to training have no career aspirations. One of them is just here to retire...she's way old. The training I've requested is needed so that I can do my job as CTO...fyi CTO means communications training officer.

Up till now everyone gripes about the way she handles her job but no one wants to be the bearer of bad news to the Chief.

Its so differcult and i totaly understand ive had a few unfair bosses in my time !!! To be honest your best approach would be to confront your boss in a nice manor , ask to speak to her in private and explain what you have said too me !!! and state your not being funny but feel left out and you were wondering why this was happening !! seriously the best thing to ever do is confront it (no slagging behind backs)makes matters worse!! just say how you feel girl !!! you have a right !!!

You likely don't. You have no idea what their performance evaluations say or what they are being groomed to do.

There isn't anything wrong with hiring a wide variety of people, it makes for a more complete team. Also, nothing wrong with employers liking employees. Nor developing the promising ones. Just because you request training does not mean that it is a good business decision to send you.

Why don't you ask for a review and have your boss spell out what you need to do to obtain your goals. Then both of you will not only be on the same page, that page will be in writing.

It does not sound like he's being unfair. It honestly seems like he is being very reasonable and in advance approximately what is going on. Your boss has a trade to run to ensure that everybody to maintain getting paid. If you must be irritated with any one it might be the character that stop. Your unwillingness to paintings your scheduled time will outcome in you being fired. Be grateful that you've got a task and if you do not find it irresistible you'll be able to continually stop.

You could say something, but if you do then you will be lowered in her eyes, more than you are now. Keep asking for the training and make sure you are always available. Other than that, you'll just have to continue to deal with things as they are or find another job. I'm in the same position as you (different job, same thing happening) but I just keep asking and hoping that sooner or later I'll be noticed.

This isn't a 'whistleblower' thing unless the boss violated a law. What you must do is go to the boss's boss.

Bring it to her attention privately. Sue her for playing favorites on the job, (well in more technical terms), or quit...use you capabilities elsewhere.
