So I was on an interview with a company the manager told me that once a position opens up, I will be in, but I have been waiting for a month now and I have called them about 3 times already. The manager told me on the third call that I am on top of his list and I should check online on their website for openings. There hasn't been any openings posted so far, and I haven't called them in the last 2 weeks. How long should I wait and when should I call them up?

Right now I work about 4 mi away from my job. I make $15/hr and work about 25-30hrs a week. Now my husband and I will be relocating approx. 40mi away. Is it worth keeping my job and commuting? Any advice...thanks!

I am working on this project with this co-worker who is very long winded. Every time I need to ask him a question he gives me some long answer with irrelevancies and I must say I tune out and stop listening because he did not get to the point immediately - this is a critical skill - get to the point. I think he is frustrated by me because I don't listen to him, but he bores me beyond belief. He is indecisive and can't control project scope with a dang either.

I find that I really enjoy setting up computers and home AV equipment (and other such items). I'm also pretty good at this stuff.

Is there any way to apply this to a career path?
Are there jobs out there like that... that would be satisfying as a career?

At work we recently got a new supervisor. He's an ex carreer military man, close to retirement age.

This guy is a big wind bag with a chip on his shoulder, and he's making life hell for many of my coworkers, mostly the women. He berates them and criticizes them in front of others and frequently has them in tears. He's even verbally abusive to the other supervisors in front of the employees. But I don't care about them as they can take care of themselves.

I do care about my coworkers, and wish there was something I could do to this guy to divert his attention away from the workers to his own life or problems. I don't want to hurt him or do anything illegal, just redirect his attention, to give them a breather.

Our company had a strike several years ago and since then the company and the new human resource director have all had an attitude toward most of the workers, so they are unsimpathetic and unhelpful to people with problems.

Any suggestions??

I'm 18 and I want more than anything to get a job at a clothing boutique but NO ONE WILL HIRE ME! Year after year I make a resume and go to a bunch of different stores wearing a nice outfit that is professional and I buy stuff in the store before handing them my resume and implying that I am indeed interested in a job there. It's always the same thing, I give them the hours I'm available, my resume too, they say "ok thanks we'll call you" and they NEVER DO! I really don't know what I'm doing wrong but this happens many times to me every year. Why won't anyone hire me? How can I get a job and impress them?

Hes always been curious to try my pantyhose. He has always complimented me and paid extra attention to how my legs look when I wear my sheers to the office for work or out for dinner etc. Part of me was unsure about letting him try at first. But I'm also thinking why not, if hes so curious, let him give it a try to experience how it feels. I'm really glad that hes confided in me with this, so Im leaning towards letting him do it as a reward in my own mind for being so open with me. Hes a wonderful husband and we have been married for about 9 years, and hes been really supportive of my feelings and career, etc. Just wondering what some of the other women out there think of letting him try or have similar expereinces.

I've been offered a new job and don't understand how to work this out:
Sick, Personal and Vacation time will be earned and accrued on a prorated basis based on your actual work hours. Currently, we offer all full-time employees:
i. 12 Vacation Days

ii. 3 Personal Days

iii. 12 Sick Days

If you work 20 hours per week, you will earn .53 (20 / 37.5) of the benefit hours listed above.

What exactly can I count on with this?

let me start off by saying i have been working there for only a lil over 3 months. i was just told today that i need to pick up the pace and i will now be doing my job and something new .well i am having trouble keeping up with the piles there putting on my desk now. i am not sure what to do. what makes things worse is the only reason that i am being told this is the girl that does the job they want me to do no longer wants to do it. i feel they play favorites at this job and am not sure what else to do but quit. my manager does not seem like an option for tme to coplain to because when i was out this past friday from work i found out that she was in the room where i work with 5 othere girls telling them why i was out and talking about my boyfriend and his kids. i feel i will get no where with her what should i do ?

How do I get rid of an unwanted coworker? She does not like to work, she gets paid more and sleeps around with all our male coworkers, yup....even those that are married. She walks around all day gossiping and doesn't contribute to the department. She goes behind my back and talks to the boss about getting more hours than me! We don't get along and we have to work together. She stays behind after closing and meets up with one of our male coworkers for late night rendezvous!! Come on now! Can anybody help? Any suggestions? Oh yeah, I can't go tell this to my boss because she says she doesn't like gossip in her department....

I've been employed for a very small company for a little over 1 year, I got really sick one week and couldn't work for 4 days, recently I left for a funeral for 1 week, I had to go to Los Angeles. Well, I've been told I no longer have my 1 week vacation because sick days and vacation are the same? I didn't get paid for the week I was down in LA for the funeral but did get paid for those sick days.

Right now, I work at our local YMCA teaching Gymnastics to little kids... and I love it, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Although I've also been interested in Psychology for as long as I can remember. I've always seemed to be the most level headed out of all my friends.
Would it be possible to blend the two some how and make a career out of it? Working with kids (preferably pre-school age) and studying psych? How much education would it take?

I've been at my first job (a local fast food place, not a chain) for almost six months. I only work 1 or 2 days a week just because I don't have a license yet and rely on Mommy for transportation. By June I will have graduated and hopefully have my license and I'd like to work more.

I'm just not sure I want to keep working THERE. My boss has been great on working with me on my schedule and I only work 4hr shifts because I'm still in high school. Problem is, I don't think I could work much longer (physically) than that anyways, so the only way I could work more is by working MORE DAYS, and the hours are right in the middle of the day so that even though it's short, I can't do much else.
I'd love to work more in the summer, I just don't see how I could at this job (which I like, but am not in love with or anything).

Question 1: Should I stick with this job or find a new one?
Question 2: If I do find a new one after only 6mos, will it reflect badly on me in the future?
