I have been thinking about a career change. How can I verify if this employer treats their people good? How can I find out about their reputation? Thank you in advance!

First, there are several networking firms that have information like Hoovers.com. Doing an extensive Google search (looking through 150-200 webpages or so to go through the miscellaneous webpages before you hit pluses or minuses.

There are firms in which you can pay to see their credit status; this is close to $200 or more, but worth it if you're thinking of a major firm change or something to that sort.

There are other websites which have ex-employees which talk cr@p about the companies, but you have to take a grain of salt with each entry.

There are a few ways that you can do this. First off, go to www.bbb.com (Better Business Bureau) and search for the company. This will tell you if there have been many customer complaints.

You can also search the internet. Just be careful doing this, since you will normally find sites talking crap about a company. It's usually the upset ones that post content, and not the ones that are happy.

Lastly, you can visit the location. You can tell a lot by watching the employees. Are they happy? Do they great customers? You can also talk directly to the employees, and let them know that you are considering applying.

Good Luck!!
