i originally joined this sited when i left the military, and used it fairly frequently. recently, i noticed that you now require a subscription to be able to apply to these jobs. it seems a bit scam-ish to me, but i was just wondering if anyone has used this site currently or previously, whether you found a job through it or not, and how would you rate the site?

I feel sad and angry most of the time. I live in the city with lots of traffic. The place is filled with strangers. Sometimes my work takes me to the country. I take the bus. I like looking at trees, grass, oceans. They are so yummy to look at. For christmas, I stayed with my brother. He has an unfarmed 1 acre land. I loved staying under the tree and looking at the weeds and flowers. I hated having to go back home to the city for some unfinished business. Now I found a job again. But I just want to save money, then I can go back with my brother. He has a small party business, with lots of room for improvement. As soon as I save up money, should I leave the city and join him there? I dont know anybody there. How can I earn money? I am scared. There is a sense of security in the city, because the economy is vibrant. I feel there is no way of being bankrupt here. But in the country, if I get bankrupt, then its the end of me. What should I do?

I have a very broad/general degree from an Ivy league college, but after I graduated and started applying for all sorts of jobs I realized the salaries were awful!! Since I didn't have a specific/speciality degree it was hard to figure out where I should apply. Many of my friends have taken administrative assistant positions or other odd-end jobs right out of college bc they really had no other choice. I didnt bust my butt in college in order to work a job where I can hardly afford my groceries!! What's going on?? Any other recent college grads with similiar experiences? Any advice? Now what, should I go back to school and get my masters...or should I just try to be creative and find an interesting (but bad paying) job?

I am hoping to be re-employed soon by my previous employer (I was made redundant and left reluctantly). My current job is crap for so many reasons. When I resign should I tell my boss the real reason or just that I've been given the chance to go back to my old job.

I am a college grad and need more references from my professors. I'm really pressed for time, and to mail a letter from where I am to the U.S. will take about 7-10 days. Is it tacky just to ask a former professor (who I know more or less) by email if he would be willing to be a professional reference for me, and then say that I will send in all of my forms by mail as soon as possible? I'm kind of afraid to ask, although he was a kind professor, because I had sent another letter to a professor who I thought would help me, but she responded very rudely and said that I was out of line asking for her help (I think she's schizophrenic.) I didn't get to know a lot of my linguistic professors well because at the time I was working, taking 18 credits, and commuting. AHHHH!!!! I need references for a job position, and I'm getting desperate!

I am paid hourly for finance services and most of my time is charged to clients through time-billing. Roughly 15-20% of my time is not charged to clients but is for necessary administrative tasks which isn't unusual for other employees in finance and accounting. My boss wants to pay me a lower hourly rate for my time which isn't charged to clients and adjust down my pay when clients don't pay their bills, something I don't have much control over. I've already had my hourly charge-out rate increased by 20% and have been insisting for years that our admin staff take initiative to handle much of the admin work I end up having to do. I'm not a partner or shareholder in the business sharing in the profits or commercial risks of the business and am not paid performance bonuses. Do you think this arrangement my boss is proposing is fair, workable or even sensible from a business management perspective?

I dont know what to do .Im scared because in a months time my section came up 80 $ short twice and she had access. So why Im I being fired and treated like a theif? what if the big boss decides to press charges? In the past year I've met several people who work at either local refineries or offshore rigs, and have on several occasions mentioned that I look into obtaining a process tech cert. and degree to become a plant operator. I've actually become quite serious about this and would appreciate any advice/info in this area. I guess I'm trying to figure out what all I can and have to do, to excel in this, not only as a female but as someone who is completely new to this.

Just thinking ahead. There's a good chance I may be going back to my previous employer. Is there a way I can give my current employer 1 weeks notice (I have no contract and have been here under six months) but not actually work the notice. Could I in theory take it as holiday as I haven't touched this years entitlement. I would love to be on annual leave and send my resignation to them by post. I have hated it here from day one and am not bothered if I lose out financially. I have a contigency plan if this happens.

O.K. Heres the deal. I am recently divorced, my only child joined the Coast Guard and also married his high school sweetheart, and is now stationed in Kentucky. I have no Family left here in california. I have worked in Restaurants all my life. I am Food Safety Certified, can do ANY position in a restaurant, Have worked my way up from line cook to General Manager in 5 years.

I know how to read P&L's, determine food and labor costs, ordering, scheduling, vendor relationships and any other dutie related to the restaurant business. I am NOT interested in working for a corporation I prefer family owned. If anyone has a decent job anywhere, tell what and where it is, and I will send resume.........Thanks

I'm 42, white male, 6'3", 250lbs and in good health.

My office is like a morgue at the moment. My work-concious collegues all have their heads down, the phone is not ringing and the only real sound is me humming in an attempt to break the silence. Unfortunately, me humming might lead people here into thinking I'm happy.

I am thinking of transferring paths to nursing. I am currently a business student with a 3.2 gpa. I really like helping people and am interested in biology. The only thing is that I have a class A misdemenor charge on my record from when I got drunk at a party and road someones bike home, I was followed and arrested for theft. Will that be a big issue when getting hired for nursing positions? I was informed that since it was my first offense it would not normally show up on my record only for health care, and Federal professions. Thanks for your answers....
