I am a college grad and need more references from my professors. I'm really pressed for time, and to mail a letter from where I am to the U.S. will take about 7-10 days. Is it tacky just to ask a former professor (who I know more or less) by email if he would be willing to be a professional reference for me, and then say that I will send in all of my forms by mail as soon as possible? I'm kind of afraid to ask, although he was a kind professor, because I had sent another letter to a professor who I thought would help me, but she responded very rudely and said that I was out of line asking for her help (I think she's schizophrenic.) I didn't get to know a lot of my linguistic professors well because at the time I was working, taking 18 credits, and commuting. AHHHH!!!! I need references for a job position, and I'm getting desperate!

It would be best to ask in person, and better to call ,especially if there is any doubt this person will remember who you are and why you're fabulous enough to deserve a recommendation letter. However, if you don't have the resources to call right now, write an email concisely explaining your unusual circumstance, updating the prof on what you've been doing since college, and respectfully asking for the favor of a recommendation. Have a plan B (plan C?) in mind if this doesn't work out...especially if this professor is the sort who gets zillions of emails and doesn't always reply right away.

Good luck!

No it does not be incorrect. human beings practice to different faculties and, after having written one letter, it's going to be lots much less annoying for her to be a reference returned. purely enable her understand which you're making use of to a 2nd college, and ask in case you ought to use her as a reference returned. you may point out that she won't would desire to install writing a letter, you purely would desire to record her touch preparation.

calling would be better unless impractical or too expensive. email ok as 2nd best choice, but less likely to get positive answer
