Does anyone know what the starting salary for a primary school teacher is in Wales? I'm starting a PGCE course in September, its for primary education early years (3-7years). I hope to get a job in Wales afterwards, any ideas what my starting salary would be?? Many thanks

£18,000 approx(depending on qualifications) to around £37,000...heads of dept etc get extra. The salary goes up in increments every year.Once you start you will be given a list of the increments. You 'll need to be able to speak Welsh fairly well especially in the language heartland of Gwynedd where it is a pre-requisite,and quite right too.

Its very good, put it that way, and you get loads of holidays. Sounds great. Why didn't I become one??

Oh, cause some kids are little squits!

Only joking. I'd work in a junior or primary too.
