I've been offered a new job and don't understand how to work this out:
Sick, Personal and Vacation time will be earned and accrued on a prorated basis based on your actual work hours. Currently, we offer all full-time employees:
i. 12 Vacation Days

ii. 3 Personal Days

iii. 12 Sick Days

If you work 20 hours per week, you will earn .53 (20 / 37.5) of the benefit hours listed above.

What exactly can I count on with this?

Sounds like you earn half a sick day per month, half a vacation day per month and a fraction of a personal day per month. So between now and December you will earn 4.5 vacation days working 20 hours per week (approx) or 9 full vacation days working 40 hour per week. Same for sick time. The personal time will accrue as well, but not as fast.

Each paycheck will show how much you have "in the bank" that you can take off and be paid for. It should show each category as well.

Congrats on your new job!!

I guess the simplest way to look at it is this way..... If these benefits are for someone who is full time, (or 40 hours per week), then someone working part time (or 20 hours per week), then the benefits would be 1/2.

So.....

i. 6 Vacation Days

ii. 1.5 Personal Days(or 12 hours)

iii. 6 Sick Days

Hope that this helps.

Good Luck!!
