I've been employed for a very small company for a little over 1 year, I got really sick one week and couldn't work for 4 days, recently I left for a funeral for 1 week, I had to go to Los Angeles. Well, I've been told I no longer have my 1 week vacation because sick days and vacation are the same? I didn't get paid for the week I was down in LA for the funeral but did get paid for those sick days.

I did not get paid for one day during that week.

Yes, however, a co-worker has been recently hired and recently took 2 days off and told me he had 8 days left of vacation. That would be 10 days paid vacation, be it sick leave or vacation, right?

More than easy
Make most 1000 dollars a week.

Make jumbo chocolate covered strawberries with nuts on a Popsicle stick. At the mall they are 5$ a chocolate covered strawberry, sell 30 a day each one is 2$ and you will make 60$ a day if you sell all of them. And in a week you will make 420$.
and a month 2,520$
a year 30,240$ damn you could by a house. Sell like 60 a day
and in a year 60,480$.

Has nothing to do with Oregon. There are three types of leave - and companies can dole out what they want, how they want.

There is vacation pay, Personal Time Off, and sick pay. Most companies these days (mine included in Oregon) choose to go to a straight PTO policy. Then you can use it for either. You probably started with one week your first year and used 4 days when you got sick. You should have had one day paid for while you were in LA, the rest would have been unpaid time off.

They are not the same, however, you did get paid for the week that you were gone. (Whether or not it was for the 4 days sick, or the time in LA, you were still gone).

If you had one week vacation, then you have used it up. Afer another year, you can take another week.

As for your question, more and more employers no longer provide for "sick time". In essence, you take the time off, but do not receive any pay or compensation for the time off.

If that is the case, they will then sometimes, charge you vacation time, (even though you are out sick), and still allow you to have a paycheck while not at work.

Good Luck!!
