How do I get rid of an unwanted coworker? She does not like to work, she gets paid more and sleeps around with all our male coworkers, yup....even those that are married. She walks around all day gossiping and doesn't contribute to the department. She goes behind my back and talks to the boss about getting more hours than me! We don't get along and we have to work together. She stays behind after closing and meets up with one of our male coworkers for late night rendezvous!! Come on now! Can anybody help? Any suggestions? Oh yeah, I can't go tell this to my boss because she says she doesn't like gossip in her department....

Sorry, it sounds like you're in a tough position and you won't win.

Frankly, let the situation take care of itself - an unproductive workplace will eventually cause the need to change.

Don't focus on that co-worker and try to focus on other ends of the job or off the job all together. Although your career is something that you for 8 hours a day, it's not your entire life and only a means for you to spend the good times better.

If your boss doesn't want gossip and thus doesn't want to do anything about her, then ignore her. You do what you do for how much you make, if you're upset that she's making more, then go find another job where you make more. Or talk to your boss about a raise or about getting more hours.

If you really want to get back at her, talk to the wives of the married co-workers, but ultimately that will just escalate the situation and piss her off, which will cause more bad things to happen.

Try to put her in situations where it's obvious that she's not doing any work. Example: if it's just you and her at work that day, volunteer to do some sort of project that your boss needs done so that it's clear how little gets done when she's on her own. Suggest that she take up projects. "Hey, boss, I think that so-and-so would be great for that project!" Set her up to either become productive or show her un-productivity to higher ups, either of which should be a win for you.

How is this gossip? Document what she does to make your life a living hell for a month and show to your manager. Only document stuff she does or says to you, that's not gossip.

If she fills you in on her rendezvous that can be considered a form of sexual harassment.

Try to get pictures without her knowing of her with the coworkers and turn them in to your boss and hr. Also, try to sabotage anything she has; her desk, her lunch, anything. And if you feel like you can't talk to your boss, put an anonymous letter in her box or under her door.
