I've recently applied for a couple of jobs for my first time and I have just received a call-back from one of them. I am not too familiar with how this works, but they asked me to come to the orientation.

Now, i've heard of job interviews but i'm not so sure what orientations are.

Also, are there any tips or helpful advice on what to do or how to act on job orientations or job interviews?

Thanks very much~~!

I am currently in a well paying job that is tolerable, but hardly fulfilling. Basically a paycheck. I'm thinking of going back to school to become a nurse. I already have a bachelor's degree, so it would only be about a year and a half of school, but I would have to go full time. Part time would not be an option. I also have a 10 month old daughter to support. I have the financial resources I need to do this and a supportive spouse, but wonder if I should really be using it to get another degree when I already have one and I have a decent job. Opinions?

Hi,
I have a interview for a Public Health Position. I have to work the night before. The interviewer said it was ok if I came straight after work and wore my hospital scrubs. Do you think this is ok to do, as I will only have 20 minutes from the time I get off until the interview starts.?

I submitted my resume thru a jobsite for a position that I am extremely interested in. The posting provided the Hiring Manager's name, address and email, however, I simply "applied" thru the jobsite.

I want to send the Hiring Manager a follow up email regarding my resume, and to display my strong interest in the position...but I don't know what to say...I am not very good with cover letters.

Any suggestions or sample cover letters of this kind that I can copy and reformat with my information?

Thanks in advance,
M

I like to write poems (and stories if I can finish them). All the poems I have written and shared with people, they say I should take up writing as a career/job, or get the ones I have published.
I really would like to do that, but I have other things that I want to do for a job. Ex: Army, Air Force, Marines, Laser or Chemical Engineer, etc.
If I get the ones I have published, and some how miraculously get an offer to write more, I would like to know if I could still do what I would like to do. Because if I do get an offer, I might not be what I said I wanted/liked to do. AHH!

I was wondering if a jewelry store provided 80% reimbursement for an employee who took a course to become a certified gemologist, would the employer be allowed to keep the certificate that is provided upon course completion if the employee leaves the company?

I am going in for a panel interview in 3 weeks for a Highway Patrol dispatch position with the state and another interview a couple weeks after that for a 911 dispatch position for the city. What are some interview questions to be really prepared for? What would be a good weakness and how would you turn into a positive? Why did you leave your last employer? Why should we hire you?

I do ok on most other questions but these are the most difficult for me...

Thanks.

despite how this sounds..I am 52 yrs old and never fired. I was not properly trained in a procedure, written up for it, and continued to work ,terminated after a 3 week determination of the "facts" . anyone thats ever worked in a hostile work environment knows what I mean My previous job was 16 yrs in with one company. I felt almost immediately my supervisor had it in for me, and I was correct. I was still on probation for a few more weeks and she was determined to get rid of me. The day after I was written up I was called by the union rep who told me "you should just resign because the mind set is to terminate you" I refused. but, to get to the point, i was on facility grounds one evening with another employee, and mis stepped, stepping sideways off a sidewalk, and twisted my ankle, I walked for a few minutes in pain, and found my ankle to be swollen, did an incident report, but haven't been to dr. then was terminated days later. Are they still liable? foot hurts !

I just became a manager for a large organization. The organization has had a history of loose management. I.e. people could do what they want without consequences. I have been there a short time and already the staff whine about assignments, miss critical deadlines, and disregard my instructions. I'm being encouraged (not by my boss so its just a suggestion) not to start out by throwing around "there is a new sheriff in town & things are gonna be differant speeches" and asked not to begin writing people up until I establish a rapport. But, I feel if I don't set a tone of accountability right off the bat, Ill never get the respect I need to do my job. Any managers out there ever inherit a problem like this? What did you do? Or, were you on the other side of the table and had a job where you could get away with murder and then you changed your act when a new boss got there?

I have a job interview tomorrow. It's not for a glamorous job or anything but I'd still like to look nice. I was thinking of wearing a black semi dressy shirt, black dress pants, and black dress shoes. Will this be okay for an interview or will I look too depressing to hire? (the clothes are all dressy, they dont look depressing or goth or anything). If this isnt a good choice, what colors should i wear and what colors should i avoid?

Yes, I know a lot of you initially want to say "What ever you like to do" or "What you enjoy." I don’t want to hear any of this. Essentially I am searching for a job title or field that utilizes the skills I have which are excellent writing, communication, people and leadership skills. I have taken those Online Career Assessment tests but they have turned up to be not much help. Anyhow, any ideas?
