I like to write poems (and stories if I can finish them). All the poems I have written and shared with people, they say I should take up writing as a career/job, or get the ones I have published.
I really would like to do that, but I have other things that I want to do for a job. Ex: Army, Air Force, Marines, Laser or Chemical Engineer, etc.
If I get the ones I have published, and some how miraculously get an offer to write more, I would like to know if I could still do what I would like to do. Because if I do get an offer, I might not be what I said I wanted/liked to do. AHH!

I love writing as well! What I've always figured I would do is do it on the side, what I mean by this is that most colleges offer double degree, which means you can take classes for two differant jobs at the same time. I would go with Journalism and then Engineering because then you can do both of what you love you coud join the army or navy or marines after that your finished that.. just an idea

Here's some sound advice. Pursue your other ideas that you listed here while writing for recreation. If you somehow get work published and become a megastar, awesome. Fact is though, that is about as likely to happen as winning the lottery. Keep writing...but keep your day job.
