A company I worked for did it with everyone (so there was no chance of discrimination). It was also written into our contracts that if you are off work due to an injury that we were able to make random home inspections. We had to be kept up to date. If you are really injured there is nothing to worry about. However, if you are out playing football, when you are meant to be bed-ridden, you deserve to get busted.

This happens all the time. If there is the slightest doubt about a claim or the person has had many accidents in the past then this could be just a scam to get w/c benefits. This helps to prevent high w/c cost. This is a cost management tool for a company.

If you really have a real injury and you are doing what the doctor says, then you will not have any problems.

Yes. I've engaged an investigator in the past to provide evidence that the employee did not have a back injury. When the investigator provided photos of the employee bowling, he was terminated, and his claim dismissed.

It only happens where there are doubts about the employee, the accident, or the extent of the injury.

If you think you were being watched, you probably were. It happens more often than any of us will ever know. They watched my next door neighbor's house with a hawk eye & she never once came out her front door the whole time she was waiting for her claim to settle. She was badly injured and lucky for her she had a wonderful husband who did everything for her because she was almost totally crippled by her injury.

Yes, our company hired a investigator to check on an employee who filed a claim that was contested. I think it happens more often than you think...
