Hi,
I have a interview for a Public Health Position. I have to work the night before. The interviewer said it was ok if I came straight after work and wore my hospital scrubs. Do you think this is ok to do, as I will only have 20 minutes from the time I get off until the interview starts.?

As a person that interviews potential employees (and not a fashion icon myself); it really doesn't always matter to me what someone is wearing. What matters is that they are clean, don't smell, and are capable of doing the job.

In my line of work; our dress code is "business casual" and I'm actually uncomfortable when someone comes to interview over-dressed like in a suite & tie.

I've done the same thing knowing someone is coming straight from their current job or class - told them they don't have to dress for the interview......and I mean it. Take it as a sign; a good sign.

If the interviewer said that, then it's fine. I recently hired a guy that wore jeans to his interview because I had to get him here in under an hour, if at all possible.

Try to get off five minutes early and change into some slacks and a blouse if you can. But if you can't they already said it was okay.

Even though the interviewer said you could wear scrubs, you should still probably try to bring a change of clothes to work so you can look your best for the interview. Bring them in a garment bag so they won't wrinkle. If you don't have one, you can get one at wal-mart or target really cheap.
