I've recently applied for a couple of jobs for my first time and I have just received a call-back from one of them. I am not too familiar with how this works, but they asked me to come to the orientation.

Now, i've heard of job interviews but i'm not so sure what orientations are.

Also, are there any tips or helpful advice on what to do or how to act on job orientations or job interviews?

Thanks very much~~!

If you're going through orientation you probably already have the job. Dress professionally and in the manner that you would on the job, not as you would for an interview. Talk up, don't go to sleep (I have before) and don't socialize too much with the other coworkers; you'll have plenty of time to do that after you get the job. Take a lot of notes and ask plenty of questions if you don't understand what is expected of you. Orientation is like taking Freshman week; the actual class is training and graduating is actually doing the work without as much supervision. You want to ensure that you're around for the other two parts ...

My experience of orientation is that it would be a session where they would orientate either you alone or a group of people around the work environment, pointing out different things like policies, expectations. details of what the day would consist of. It's key to act interested but not overdo it, you want to be enthusiastic in a way that shows you are a team player and ready to go that extra mile. Also dress accordingly and make sure that you present well and are taking it seriously, if you ask questions, ask in an intelligent manner and pay attention to everything, even if it means taking notes. Questions to ask really depent on the job, ultimately be yourself but people generally want well-presented, people who come across as being itinerant and capable! Good luck!
