In December I was laid off from my job due because of the slow season (construction) and I'm collecting unemployment. Now I want to start my own business. But I need to tell my employer that I won't be coming back to work. I need to advertise and if he see's my ad then he will fire me and I don't think I can collect any more (something to do with conflict of intrest). I need to be able to keep my unemploment for the begining when work is slow. I am scheduled to go back to work in a few days can I just tell him that I am looking to explore diffrent oppurtinities. I don't want to leave on bad terms he is a great guy to work for and I don't want to burn any bridges in case things don't work out in the self employment world.

Many customers didn't pay me after I delivered the product(s). I was my biggest customer. I didn't charge order processing fees/taxes sometimes. I have a full-time job & this was suppose to be for fun & to buy for myself primarily.

When I took my new job, I was told that my medical insurance would begin coverage on April 1st. I am now being told that I won't be covered for a "while". Meaning, whenever "they " feel I have proved myself. What can I do?

I would have never quit my old job (that had excellent benefits), for a job that has no definate timeline for coverage. My life depends on my monthly medications, and without insurance it costs me over $600.

I submitted my resume thru a jobsite for a position that I am extremely interested in. The posting provided the Hiring Manager's name, address and phone number (not the email address as I stated in my last question), however, I simply "applied" thru the jobsite.

I have a template to use for a follow up letter/fax...but now I am wondering if I should call and leave a voice mail message instead?

Advice??

What do you do if what you are interested in clashes with your personality type as far as career paths go?

For example, I am interested in subjects such as psychology, sociology, and foreign languages, but I am not one to talk in front of a class much less teach one on one of those subjects.

As far as jobs go (for example), I am not interested in becoming a psychologist and am worried I will drown in case loads with social work while being underpaid.
This may seem inaccurate, but overall I see no future for what I am interested in.

What would that leave then....? I do not want to have to take a lot of math (my weakest subject) or science (I think it boring) courses. I would rather take classes in what I am interested in, but-as I said-I do not see them tying into any career.
Any input or help would be greatly appreciated! -Thank you in advance.

I have been working with my current boss for the last eight years. During this time he has seen me through some very tough times in my life and has given me solid support and understanding. At one time he even gave me 3 months leave with my job still open at the end of it. I could not ask for a better boss. He has also not so long ago advanced me a large amount of cash to get myself out of crap. If it were any other boss I would no doubt be down the road. However, I have recently been offered another job which is paying more than $8 dollars more an hour than what im getting now along with less hours. Im very much confused to what I should do. I feel very loyal to my boss after eveything he has done for me. But I also have a family to support and the extra money would definatly come in handy. I dont know what I should do and some advice certainly wouldnt go astray. Thanks very much.

I just found out he is reading my emails and he wants to meet with me tomorrow morning.

I've got to be honest, the emails he will find from me to my co-workers and their replies are not to professional. Alot of griping in the emails about how stupid my boss is and how I hate working at this place. Alot of rumour mongering and talking badly about other employees in the company.

Can I get fired for this?

okay lets break down the basics.

im a junior in high school
in freshmen and sophomore year i was a straight A, student/ A's and B's

and now as a junior I have a math class with a D, and a few C's, and a couple A's

I'm ranked 95 out of a graduating class of 653.

so im average i guess.

I havent really gotten itno college stuff yet, and i know i should, but all this stuff confuses me, like the SAT's, searching for financial aid, etc.

I'm into web design i guess, but also into old rat rod/ hot rod cars. eh.. and some cartooning art, i can make my own comics pretty well, but i have to be in a 'artistic mood'.

is being a web designer a good paying job??? what's the BEST college for web design?

or is being a cartoonist or mechanic a better paying job/ funner? i just want to do something that pays well, that i'm good at, and doesnt involve math that is over the Algebra 2 level haha

I work a Nationwide Agency , I work 35 hours a week( because of school) and do about 30 - 50 policies/month. I have my P&C license and about 1 yr of exp. I am currently getting $1280/month salary and have no benefits. I get 25% of the agencies comm, But most of our business is referred from their other offices and since its reffered from other offices they say they have to split the comm. w/ the other offices of up to 80% to the referred office. so im really only getting 25% of the left over 20% agency comm. Theres suppose to be 3 employees/office, but we only have 2. So im almost running the office by myself( i make deposits, go out and take pictures of different properties, answer all calls, submit remittance reports, quote, bind, service clients, close, open, and do service work for her policies. She usually leaves and comes in 1 to 2 hours before i do. If your a NW agent or know about NW please compare me to other NW offices/agents so that i know what im suppose to be getting paid
