What do you do if what you are interested in clashes with your personality type as far as career paths go?

For example, I am interested in subjects such as psychology, sociology, and foreign languages, but I am not one to talk in front of a class much less teach one on one of those subjects.

As far as jobs go (for example), I am not interested in becoming a psychologist and am worried I will drown in case loads with social work while being underpaid.
This may seem inaccurate, but overall I see no future for what I am interested in.

What would that leave then....? I do not want to have to take a lot of math (my weakest subject) or science (I think it boring) courses. I would rather take classes in what I am interested in, but-as I said-I do not see them tying into any career.
Any input or help would be greatly appreciated! -Thank you in advance.

Go to www.review.com. It has a major search as well as a reverse search describing a certain career , life in that career and Income. It also has a personality test that will help you broaden you search from more than just the three majors that interest you. it really is an incredible site for students looking into majors and careers.

I have a simliar problem as well...

I'm not sure where you are at in your life, but I just recently bought a new home with my boyfriend, and we are going to be getting married soon.
With all this new finacial stuff coming up, I decided instead of going after a associates degree in English, I am going to get a one year certificate in a specific job so I will be able to get a job right away. The certificate is cheaper, and I'll be bring in money right away. Plus, you can always go back to school later. I'm going after a medical transcriptionist certerifate, because I know the pay is good and hospitals are always hiring. But there is many other types that you can get, on tons of subjects.
The problem I had with the English degree was that I didnt want to teach, and many other people with English degrees who dont teach have problems finding jobs. English and literature where what I personally wanted to spend the rest of my life doing, but I didnt exactly know how to get a job from that..
I'm kinda rambling, but I hope I helped in someone.

As someone in the same boat (elevated interest in psychology yet classically introverted), I would advise to not buy into the stereotype of couch-head-examining or case working.
Currently in school for experimental psychology, I have pursued my love of unsolved questions in psychology with my research, and have also dabbled some in teaching- a welcome opportunity to test waters I would certainly not have ventured into otherwise.
So, while personality and vocation should ideally match, be sure to examine any field closely for many crannies exist within each area that you could slide into and enjoy.

start up writing letters. heavily. Write a letter to NASA or everywhere else and easily say you're a pupil and thinking if all people there may well be prepared to respond to some short questions (you're no longer searching for a mentor right here -- merely have some questions which will take an hour out of a guy or woman's day, if that) Make your questions open-ended and finished (no stick to united statesunless the guy invites you to start corresponding greater). some thing alongside the strains of "Do you savor your artwork?" "What are you able to tell me approximately what you do?" "what form of training did you're taking?" "What suggestion might you supply somebody like me?" i might think of somebody who at present has your dream interest, might take the time to respond and maybe supply you some suggestion and direction.
