I referred a friend over to my current employer. He actually holds a lower title but does the same exact jopb at another office. He came in with a salary 9% higher then myself. since he is a friend I know his salary. So is there anyway I can use this knowledge to secure a higher salary without communication that I know confidential information? Would I dare even say I know someone in another office with a lower title earning more? That is probably out of line. So how can I secure more for myself?

I absolutly hate working the late shifts till 9:30. the deputy manager really seems to hate me and hardly speaks to me and i am never sure weather i will get screamed at for something. it takes me over an hour to get there on the bus and a tram and costs me 4 quid on a one way journey. i scrounge lifts from my parents and b/f becasue i onyl earn 4.50 an hour.

i have looked for a job that i can get to but there arnt any available.

I am waiting for the opportunity to be promoted at my job. I have been with the company for eight years and I must say that I am totally ready to be promoted. My boss has been telling me that I am set up to go to the internal interviews for sometime now but he doesnt have a date? Do you think this is BS and he is just stringing me along? He told me and another employee that the interviews will be in April or May. But I am just itching to know if he is telling the truth. Should I go above him and email his boss and see what he says about that, or would that be overstepping?

anybody has went through something like this on their jobs. Backbiting and gossiping with you being the center of attention. Thats what I am going through right now. I have this woman yes I said woman on my job that speaks to me when I speak to her but behind my back she says that I act funny. That I dont talk to her but I talk to everybody else. First of all you would have to know this person to know why I dont hold long conversations with her she is a 30 something years old trouble maker. She is always in somebody else business instead of worrying about her own. She doesnt like me because I stay to myself. She has turned other people against me. It has gotten to the point that I dont trust anybody on my job. I have days where i hate to go in. There is a lot peer pressure on this job. You wouldnt think that most of us were adults because of the way we carry on. People are always being pulled into the office like school kids its awful. Can anybody relate?

I am working and I enjoy what I do but I have also been interviewing for the last year to try and get out of the comfort zone and try something new. How much rejection should I take before I accept what and who I am and just commit to my job?

Okay, so here's the thing. My bosses daughter is applying for a job and she wants to use this place as a reference. The company doing the background check faxed over this paper to fill out. My bosses g/f filled it out and faxed it back, but it is totally a lie. The girl did work here but only for 2 weeks and she was really bad at it. Even more than that, every other job she's ever had she only keeps for like 2 or 3 weeks. Should I fax the company back and tell them the truth? Or should I just leave it alone?

Lets face it, there have always been costs associated with labor. With slaves , the owner had to feed, clothe and house them as well as provide health care to protect his investment. If the owner was a good owner these costs increased in order to keep the slaves from running away (George Washington and Mount Vernon). Today I am a bossman in a small American sweatshop. Our company recruits foriegn workers and sponsors them to come and live here legally in the states. Once they are here we put them up in some crappy little apartment close to the shop within walking distance. Then I work them half to death for sub-minimum wage with the threat of deportation always over their head. They put up with it. They are happy to be "American Residents". Better than sleeping on a dirt floor. Any American worker would have shot me for expecting them work like these immigrants do. God bless America, the land of the opportunist. P.S. I feel that I have been blacklisted. It has been almost five years since I have worked. The problem started after leaving AMEX in Georgia. Due to being unemployed, I found time to obtain a Master's Degree in Business and despite being a law abiding citizen, no one has hired me. I live in Florida and can't find employment because I have been unemployed for too long. The sad part is that my credit has suffered extensively. I now have over $100,000 in student loans to repay.

As a result of my job loss I have lost my beautiful house, a cargo van and a 2001 Honda Civic. So, in America companies can do whatever they want to destroy the lives of an employee. I lost my job because I suffered from depression. Is this fair, do I deserve this for being sick?
