Contact Shivam Institute of Medical Transcription (SIMT), located in Okhla, Delhi. They will give you a good grounding in this subject. You need to have a basic knowledge of Human physiology, and elementary knowledge of other medical terms that medical practioners generally use.
You also need to listen to hours and hours of tapes where they speak English with an American accent, to get familiar with their way of pronunciation. Armed with this training, you can make a very attractive income, doing med transcription.
How is it feasible??
Because the time difference between India and USA is exactly 12 hours, (Opposite sides of the globe!), when they are sleeping in USA, we are awake, and vice versa.
So when a doctor dictates something say, before finishing his day's work , and sends it to us in India, we are just starting the day!
We do the transcription and send it back to USA. It is available to him within 1-2 hours, unlike if he dictated to his own medical Secretary and had to wait 8 hours for her to come to work the next day and do the task!
Moreover, the money he has to pay her would be 10 times what you would get, so it is cheap for him!
But when you take up this career, be sure to get paid in U.S. $$$, and NOT in Rupees.
Happy hunting.

Try going to www.spheris.com. I work for them part time and I know they are based in India, as well as the U.S. They can tell you about training and other things they provide. Good luck. I love doing transcription for a living.
